I just find it curious.....just as station engine sections look like alien probes, so we get another visual cue here.

Maybe we have it all wrong? Perhaps humanity as we know it in 3302 are the descendants the missing colony ships, and the true humans who built these ruins died out.

Or, we were banished, Home world style? Maybe everything we know is built on the ruins of the past?

if second ruins are found, it would be a nice time to keep mr braben and brookes on their toes. And hey we might push the Frontier dev team to create some new content if we get all their 3 months worth of hunting cleared in the first week or so

Any chance these bases might be encircling something? Could any of these configurations result in something of interest at the center, like a black hole, or Sol?

Finding all three would be useful.

So I've been out being a goofball in the California nebula for a while, but I want to get my search on somewhere with some real potential. I know a lot of people are talking about that COL system, which is around 1,500LY away from me. I was wondering what you guys all think about the new bodies in the Sol system, which is 1,000LY away from me. Should I head over to the COL system that everyone else is flocking to, or do you guys think my time would be better spend searching the new Sol stuff for hidden badassery?

Hey someone go rescue Kahina then drag the angry Imperial fleet to Maia so you can use them as a distraction to get Palin out of there.

I'd try it but I'm heading to work... So I nominate Jmanis. :D

I have been the first to discover 100s of objects ( stars , planets , moons etc)..........would be a little hard to generate enough unique features like ancient ruins for every player to find some first.......save your salt,

what gets me conflicted is trying to read all this thread and thus not getting any actual game time in! (have an asp full of artifacts though........they don't appear to be that valuable, but a thrill to collect nonetheless)

Not salty, per se, and I have also got hundreds it first discoveries of planets under my belt, but dagnabbit if I wouldn't like to discover something mysterious!

I am currently assisting in the poorly staffed search for the Cobra wreckage from the Gamescom footage. Best lead at the moment is it's somewhere in Asterope within 700ls of the star, if you are free to join?

I am currently recording what we have at the known site, starting with checking that the symbols at the bottom of the pillars are the same on all pillars. Which indeed they are. However I was thinking of measuring the site, so we know the size of structures. What do people think?

Have you noticed that the alien ruins use the same triangular motif as the loading menu icons and menu furniture?

Some of us are taking that as a clue, yes. Others, not so much.

Hmmm... not without merit...

I am not sure this is even a burial site. The layout of the installation doesn't look like that to me. Also, these bigger structures, especially those around the round "building" sites, look like some kind of clamp. Like something is supposed to snap in place there. Perhaps a removable structure? something that can land there and then connects to the rest of the structure. The obelisks inside the round places might also fit into whatever lands there.
Also the floortiles between the other obelisks doesn't look like roads but more like electrical contact points or something.

EDIT: the Feds or Emps will just send a capital ship to claim the site like they did with alien wreck location. Also: players shooting players without any warning is crap. Just makes the game less fun.

Maybe the metal stuff on the floor is wiring, the obelisks are capacitors. We could be inside a giant computer. Remember, our early computers took up entire buildings.
All we have to do is switch it back on again maybe with an EMP pulse (where should we get one of those from? Clue: honk honk!). I wonder if it runs Elite '84. :) CMDR PlungedSphere 34.
