How much damage do you let modules take before using AFMUs?

I'm not sure when it happened, but somehow my FSD is at 99% health, though everything else is at 100%. How much damage do you let modules take before using an AFMU? I know it isn't exactly exploration specific, but I'm not gonna see a space station for at least 5 months, and have to conserve AFMUs.

When I was last out in the black, I used them whenever I could. I spent a good amount of time in the SRV and refilled mats required to reload AFMU. No need to conserve them

I usually keep everything topped up to full, although many modules will keep working perfectly right down to the wire. I was always worried about a damaged life support module suddenly deciding to switch to emergency air when I wasn't paying close attention, but apparently they'll work with no chance of malfunction until 0%.

When I take damage that is fixable I always stop, drop out of supercruise and fix everything (once I made the mistake of trying to fix thrusters while in supercruise and I ended up with unfixable hull and power plant damage - lesson learnt). I always keep materials for at least one refill of AFMU handy.

Actually depends on how far out I am. When I was going to Sgr A*, I repaired every time.

Now, going back via the Colonia route with something like 3000 ly between stops, I don't repair (for now, at least).

I found if I repaired pretty much immediately, I'd almost immediately do some more damage. So I decided to wait till 80s, maybe even 75, after the pancaking incident causing a rush back out to catch the DWE fleet.
Now on my way back and most modules 96% or higher and haven't touched the afm once. Got plenty of refills though.
I figure if i start repairing now it'll open the food gates.

There was a thread here somewhere where some people tested the module reliability at various %ages. Most, from memory, work fine right down to zero so there really isn't a need to repair constantly imo.

I'll repair if things drop below about 90%, otherwise I tend to repair whenever I stop for the night. Like Arnoldo, I've got enough mats from just random SRV prospecting to cover any refills in the black.

When I first flew out to Jaques I never took one, did it hardcore :D

Took about 10% hull damage by the time I got there because I did a few stupid things, first trip out of the bubble etc, varying percentages on other modules. At the moment I am kicking around Jaques searching for features so not bothering, I suppose if I was going to Beagle Point I might take one, when I would decide to use it I don't know, it's not a decision I have had t make yet.

Depends on the module. I like to keep my FSD, thrusters, PP and canopy at 100%. I repair my PD, shields and sensors when they get below 75%. 50% for everything else. I tried to stop repairs on some things at 90% but it's too much micromanagement, even for me.
