Engineers Well that was a waste of time

Note to self, before heading out in Corvette to martuuk for FSD upgrades, be sure she's unlocked first.

My game time last night: Plodding along at 8-11ly jumps, scooping every 3rd jump, get to martuuk an hour later. The sinking feeling when I see she's not unlocked, and how far away ngurii is. Back home I go, 8-11ly at a time, get home an hour later.

GG me.

Not sure if you are being serious or warning others, but I'll add my comments anyway, just in case anyone else falls into the same trap and reads this thread:

If you head to the nearest station with shipyard and semi-decent outfitting, park your current ship and buy an AspX, DBX, Adder, etc. Whatever you can afford with the best jump range. Outfit with the best FSD and cargo rack if you need a commodity to unlock your engineer.
You should now be able to get what you need a lot quicker.

It's not a joke, but a moment of "d'uh" followed by a waste of a night, so laughing at myself.
I have plenty of ships with great jumprange, that's not an issue.
A reminder to myself, and others to pay just a smidge of attention before setting out.

Of course. Now I'm forgetting that the modules you want to engineer are of a particular size, so going to an engineer in that ship is sometimes a necessity.

Now that mod storage is here, I can safely take my Asp X to Felicity, get my level 5 FSD range mod, and then swap it out for a standard one, before flying back to where my Python is (with it's pathetic 13ly range) and getting the modified FSD transferred over. Happy days.

I did a similar one with the Engineer in shinrarta dezhra.
I thought she did the extra heatsink so brought her the kongga ale she wanted with the station only selling me four at a time.
Three hours of my life I'll never see again.

the funny this is that the kongga ale starts at 16 units then tails off to 4 units at a time, then on my final run to her it was back upto 16 units again. if it had stayed at 16 units I woulda been 2 runs of 180Ly instead of 4 runs.

Modular Terminals are not being offered to me. I'm so annoyed right now. Grinded explo data ranked up an engineer to become aware of the guy in Sirius. Ranked up with Sirius Corp, 10 million in explo data, to get the permit, then I did a mission to get the invite.

After all that time I now need to do missions so I can be offered Mod terms. None are being offered from any mission. I've tried high tech systems in boom states. Thank the lord for Skyrim SE.

Im seeing a few missions for MTs as Lembave which is high tech in boom. Of course i dont need them at the moment! Aint that always the way!

*Slaps forehead*
I should've taken the 'Conda.
Next time.

Take the Conda to all the engineers and then swap the newly engineered Thrusters, Power Plant, FSD and Power Distributor into the Corvette. As they are all the same size as the Corvette.

This saved me much time and many jumps.

I did a similar thing just today. After mining 43/50 tons of Bromellite, I selected Bill Turner to view his location on the system map, only to find he's situated in Alioth. I don't have the permit, and there's no way I'm lugging all that cargo around while I get friendly with the Alioth Independents, so I just sold it all at one of their stations.

At least the extra faction rep means it wasn't a total waste of time. [cry]

done this before
man that vette FSD is a joke...

one time i swapped some mods from vette to conda, hunted engie rank reqs, went to engie only to find i had unlocked her to grade 3... that was fun

D'oh! The trip to there or Maia can be brutal in a jump challenged ship. I always be sure to upgrade the FSD first then everything else. When I went to upgrade my Vulture with dirty drives, I flew out to get exhaust manifolds in my Cobra, only to return and find I forgot to put a cargo bay in my vulture, so had to sell them and fly back for more.

Haha this exactly happened to me today. You could have told me about the permit Bill.

I kept the 50 tons and am now grinding the rep.
