Found a new way to troll miners...

Note: Alright this got quickly out of hand, and the whole point of this thread went way over peoples minds.. It was more of a joke I trolled myself by destroying my own limpets. Though someone could use it as a form of trolling. (FYI I've never trolled, or engaged in any type of PvP or player.. I play 99% Solo.. Just FYI to the toxic people in the responses...)

It's amazing how many people immediately assume I want this to be like EVE, or I'm trying to bring the EVE culture.. like really? ... just because I made comparisons?

Then the people claiming this isn't an open pvp game.. then why is that flipping mechanic even in the game? Why then are they selling the game off as an open world, be and do what you want when you want, and open interaction with players as a selling point if you can't also use the ingame mechanics of piracy, etc. against other players? lawls? Why even have an Open game mode just keep it solo/private.. The amount of derp in these comments...

I'm going to respond on here to people and ignore this thread entirely as people are really opinionated or straight up toxic.

---------------------Original Post-----------------

 Sit next to them and spam your ECM.. it destroys their limpets... lmao.... You also gain no bounty or anything of the sort, so you're nothing more than a massive nuisance.. of course works best against player miners..

Found this out when I accidently activated my ECM on my mining ship. destroyed my own limpets..

---------------

Edit: Meant to add you could use this to pirate... It's like a more peaceful albeit mabye more annoying way to force someone to drop their cargo for you. You ghost them until they do what you ask. No different than interdicting repeatedly.

Edit: I gotta say.. the type of comments.. I feel bad for Frontier.. The fact this game was designed around being able to interact with players in open world environment, however, whenever you want, in anyway you want, and here I'm being bombarded by people saying "oh but its not an open pvp game" or some other lunacy and the community pushing their own agenda on Frontier.. tisk.. wont be long before Open is basically Solo where other players are untouchable entities you can't interact with unless in a wing.

This game is gonna die real fast..

This is going to be difficult for FDev to resolve.
You're near a miner with their limpets doing their business, while evading a missile that's homing in on you, and you activate your ECM.
Rare cases may be not worthwhile for FD to resolve.

So mine in a random spot of the ring, rather than a RES.

Chances of meeting another player is almost nil.

They could make it so that ecm doesn't effect collectors again

But most miners drop out in the middle of the ring so good look finding them to annoy them

The question is; why would anyone do that?

The million dollar question. Someone will though.
Some folks just don't have much going on in their lives.

Wow thanks for that gem of information just what the game needs more juvenile behaviour from imbeciles

I played EVE online for 8 years. This is kiddy stuff, compared to intentionally going out of someones way to make someone lose 500 billion isk and 4 weeks worth of work.

Seriously though. This is an open world, alternate life, open PvP, game is it not? Why insult people who are RPing as an evil       , or targetting you because you decided to favor federation or empire over the other, or whatever of multitude of things...

Or hell, even, just cuz you made yourself an easy target.. Which is pretty legit grounds in an open PvP, open world, be, do, and live what want when you want type of game that Frontier is trying to make it be. They have Solo Play for a reason.

Ironically its more juvenile to expect safety or not be picked on in this type of game, and lash out at anyone who dares to enter your "Safe zone" and calling them names... Just saying to you guys who made these comments ^

Open is not a pvp world , it just means pvp can happen , plus it always makes me laugh when people call us Care bears , I shall ask a simple question ,if we had 2 galaxies ,one pvp and one non-pvp , which one do you think would be unpopulated and empty lol

Wow, an exemple of trolling without anyone dying, I'm impressed.

Ironically, this is probably why it doesn't need fixing: Anyone intent on griefing a miner will just kill them instead.

I imagine that sitting next to someone repeatedly doing this for a continued period of time would actually count as harassment, again making the kill more likely an alternative.

The carebearing is strong with this group. I played EVE online for 8 years. This is kiddy stuff, compared to intentionally going out of someones way to make someone lose 500 billion isk and 4 weeks worth of work.

I think your missing the point, why would someone go out of their way to make someones life more difficult, especially when there is no gain what so ever - apart from being a bit of a nasty piece of work.

There are 2 galaxies. Solo and Open. They share the same information, but are separated entirely. :)

Also... lawls.. "Open is not a PvP world", yea you're totally right, except for the fact you can shoot a player anytime, anywhere. There are consequences depending on the location but.. that makes it open pvp my friend. Just like EVE Online is. There are consequences in that game too depending on location, and what you're doing but.. nobody says EVE Online is just an "open world not pvp" game. Actually, Elite Dangerous is less forgiving than EVE Online to carebears now that I think about it. Seeing as how easy it is to avoid the security in this game. in EVE Concord makes you their toy.

You're not thinking like a pirate. People in Elite have such a short span of inspiration, and imagination... Say I follow you around, and do this to you. I keep doing it, and tell you that whatever you mine you're gonna drop half of for me. (Kinda simlar to an interdiction PvP where they force you to drop cargo, except in this way your ship isn't at risk). You either do it, or I make your mining days hell, and I ghost you everywhere you go. I've ghosted, and tracked players in Eve Online for many years both as a spy, and black ops for alliances. Doing it in Elite is no issue for someone like me.

Player interdiction in PvP is legit, being a pirate is legit. Not harassment. (well ok it is, but. not in the form thats reportable. It's part of the game bro, that's why you can fight pvp..). In-fact, since your ship isn't being destroyed, and I'm doing it to get cargo from you, its a more peaceful form of interdiction since your ship isn't at risk. (Unless you      me off, or send friends after me. Then I probably will do a boom n zoom ze Luftwaffe German style against you. )

You know, and say I do pick on one person.. he can get powerful friends to make me back off. That's what an open world is my friend, players coming together to take down the baddies amirite? everyone complains there isn't enough to do with friends. Or enough content to bring people together that isn't just running some community missions. The benefits!

You seem to really like Eve , this isn't Eve . Amazing how many people compare this to that , but i'm not going to turn this into a pvp/pve debate . fly safe and do well in your journeys my friend :D

The EVE is strong with this one... :p

It's not carebearing. It's honestly questioning why anyone would set out to troll someone. The "culture" of PvP in EVE is a good thing, it's a fundamental part of the game and while I left that game it sure wasn't because of that. I'd just rather be flying my ship than my spreadsheet.

Trying to bring that EVE "culture" to ED doesn't work that well. The games are just too different in focus, in architecture, and in the player tactics to "get on".

I actually agree with you that sitting next to a miner ECMing their collectors might be amusing... for about two minutes, and only if the miner was your buddy who you could pay back with a case of decent beer later. There's a difference between pranking your buddy and being a troll. Just MHO but over the years I've pretty much come to the conclusion that the people who do act the troll just don't get (or have simply never considered) that distinction.

That's good, because frontier made it very clear with their 3 modes. Solo play is against bots.. If you wanna play multiplayer without other players, you play private, if you want an open world experience (that includes open pvp bro, that's why the mechanic is in the game...) then you play Open... There is no argument here unless you're delusional.

I'm not trying to bring the EVE culture lmao. But PvP is in the game. Why do they allow you to interdict and fight other players at any time, anywhere if they didn't want that? Seems silly. It also seems silly as hell to me that players are trying to argue around this.

Even though I used the term "Troll" You can use this as a legit way to pirate another player. As I've described already in another response.

Go play Eve then( and have your credit card drained), and derive your social currency by being an online sadist. This is not PvP,, it is trolling. You said it yourself, so you pretending it is somehow legitimate gameplay is laughable. You cannot use this as a "legit" way to pirate another player. Unless you have something worng with you, I don;t understand why this form of gameplay would appeal. I would rather play games like football, soccer, cricket... that just randomly run around a field being an idiot making irritating gestures to other players. Your style of gameplay is the sports equivalent of that ;)

Not another troll. Go on then, I'll bite ...

Yet another player who believes they are role-playing when, in fact, they are hiding behind that moniker to grief others for lulz. :)
