General / Off-Topic The capital punishment will be restored in Turkey

"The restoration of the capital punishment will be submitted to the Parliament", announced Erdogan. He said that the criticisms made about it by the West "do not count". --- "I am convinced that the Parliament will approve it and, when it will arrive in front of me, I'll ratify it", declared Erdogan during a speech in Ankara in answer to the crowd which demanded this punishment for the pustchistes of July. ----- And well it seems that the European Union accession represents nothing, for Erdogan, now.

ughh Erdogan....
Such a disgusting, disgraceful character.

Turkey will never get access to the EU.
Erdogan and his ilk do not seem to understand the fundamentals of democracy.

Yup. That will kill it dead. One more Brexiter threat gone.

It was always an outright lie - any one of the extant member states can veto a new state joining. So the UK, for example, could have vetoed. I doubt it would have to though, could you see Greece and Cyprus going for Turkey joining?

If Turkey had stayed on a different path for 20-30 years or so, it could have happened. In that event, it would have been a good thing too. Now they are going backwards, and it's really tragic.

But yes. Turkey was never going to be allowed in until it had in effect become a stable European style democracy.

Turkish membership was never on the cards, too many opponents. Mind you it didn`t stop Boris the Clown scaring the horses with it and then coming out after the brexit vote telling the EU that the UK would lobby for it. You couldn't make it up, completely clueless.

The restoration of the capital punishment in the Turkey would be bad news for the Turkish people. But the rupture of negotiations for the accession to the EU would be excellent news for the Europeans who would not see for a long time, 80 million of muslims invade the Europe. The integrity of the Europe would be preserved, this is essential. Do not forget that the majority of Europeans, is Christians and Atheists

:)

Well that depends on the Viewpoint.
If Turkey had Reformed all the Way into an Fully Democratic State it would have been Possible.
And for a Long Term Turkey has been making Large Strides to that Direction.
Be it Equalizing Womens Rights or moving towards keeping Religion out of Government. :)

Just that now Turkey is moving into the other Direction again.
Which is not Acceptable for the EU of Course.

The French are also very opposed to the accession of the Turkey in the European Union. And now the Turkey is becoming a renowned hub for the islamic dress style.
Can you imagine the French who already does not support the veil and the burkini in the public places ?

:)

Turkey has successfully brainwashed their citizens dry. It's people have had their minds turn into brutality-cheering psychopaths, their people will demand more than just the death penalty and so the government will implement top-of-the-line "pain technologies" where even Turkey's own young children can watch torture live on TV as the brainwashed crowd cheers.

Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it. He will soon become one of the most hated people on Earth, the next Vlad the Impaler. I'm surprised we still haven't got the fact that a dead man cannot feel punishment through our damn heads yet.

Maybe he will restore the circus games with the gladiators ?

"The West says this, the West says that. Sorry, but what matters, it is not what says the West, it is what say my people", declared Erdogan ----- Article 50 ?

:)

The Turkish opposition daily "Cumhuriyet" said Monday that it "will fight to the end for the democracy and the freedom", despite the arrest of several of its journalists, including its chief editor, suspected of "terrorist" activities . An air of revolution in Turkey ?

Turkey is a good (if sad) example of how much progress political (and religious) extremists can destroy in a very short time. To think Atatürk was there 70 years ago. Democracy is not granted, we should always be cautious. In Egypt, 60 years ago Nasser was joking about the veil and the islamic rules. Now look at that country.

The same is happening in Europe or the States, where more and more extremists are taking the votes. We are not safe either. Again, democracy is a very precious and very, very fragile thing.
