Horizons Scary white dwarf

So I'm on a standard multi-jump journey when I arrive at this star only to have the whole ship going crazy, sparks, fire and smoke all over the cockpit, the nose of the ship veering around all over the place, warning messages and sirens going off! It turns out this system is a binary star system with an M class star, but literally right next to is is a white dwarf and I'm caught in the "plume" from it. Hull integrity dropping, module failure warnings, I seriously thought I was going to lose my brand new Anaconda (had it a week) but you know what was going through my mind at this point?
Those passengers aren't going to be happy.... ha ha!

Good to be reminded that the natural universe is still dangerous!

Loving this update Frontier, really brilliant, thanks!

just lost a 68mil Python to a pulsar when exiting hyperspace between hops. game stuttered and ended up caught inside the star with no escape possible.
not a happy bunny. beware bugs in navicom exiting too close to stellar bodies.

The boost capability is important for explorers, now. If you drop into the jet, it's the only way out, because without boost and with all that trashing around, you won't be able to align your vector. Only boost can do that, albeit momentarily, but you you have your FSD charged and ready, it will pull you out.

I am scared of this happening to me and with no training mission to practice i guess i need to find a training video showing what to do if this happens as right now i think i would fail.

There is a WD really close to Sol. Buy a Sidewinder and go practicing. :)

I am completely steering clear of these things until I understand more about navigating around them. I did come across one and wanted to take a closer look. Heat started going up fast so I Forest Gumped (run Forest run) out of there.
I have since removed them from my filter list and only jump to fuel scoop stars during my travels. (apply filters)

To be able to boost means a higher spec PD than required, meaning more weight and less jump range...

Or one engineered for engine focus. That's what I did. I may misremember, but I think I ended up with a small mass saving as well. Doesn't boost much, but it does boost.

Ohkay, so you'd rather be dead with two extra lightyears of jump range.
Well, hundred people hundred tastes, I guess. I prefer to have fully functional ship that can keep me alive.
I also equip the best thrusters. The nerve! :D

'nother question

[where is it]

What is its name? Maybe I'll go practice as well.[where is it]
I got caught between binaries once.

'nother ??????? I think you all mean normal drive then hit Tab on the keyboard. Tell me if I'm wrong.:S

I don't remember the name and I can't go check, now. Switch your GalMap filter to star type and untick all the boxes except White Dwarfs and you'll see it.

And yes, normally, when you fly into the WD/NS jet in supercruise, nothing really happens. The ship is trashed around a little, your drive gets supercharged and in five seconds you're on the other side.
Only when you screw up and drop out of the supercruise you're in trouble, because the ship is spinning and dancing around, so you can't align with the escape vector properly. That's why the boost is so important - it will make your ship go straight for a brief moment and the FSD can engage.

It's Stein something or other. 4 numbers. Just type in Stein and it will be the first to come up. The Galmap and the popup that comes up showing the next system's star class when you jump say it is a Class M star, but you will drop out right at the White Dwarf. The Class M star is actually 23,000LS away. I've bug reported it.
