ED Still worth my time ?

Definately enough players. Credits is not the determining factor for having ingame fun, but helps a bit :) Spending a few bucks for the Horizons update is imo neglectable. But difficult to judge on that, since I do not know your age and your social circumstances. But I presume you can risk spending a few bucks and finding it out for yourself. Especially since you have already invested so much time and effort making those billions of credits...Enjoy! Over and out.

well how about knitting some socks and coming back a bit later when the game maybe potential less boring for you. Believe me this is good advice you can never have enough socks and as bonus you could give some as Christmas presents people always like that

I can always use new socks.

OP, this advice is solid gold. send me socks!

So i left a while ago because all my friends are gone and i had nobody to play with.

Is the game still worth investing time in it ?
Is horizon worth it ?

I stopped before they released the corvette and i did save quite a few billions to buy it. So in terms of money im covered.

Im just worried that there is nobody left to play this game with.

Anyone ?

Same story. I check sometimes, but what I'm discover doesn't impress. Credits worthless (thx for the months of robigo and others, and ofc allowed combat log), that is, balance of ingame money does not exist, so FD add more hand-made grind content and roulete, what would the players have something to do. These so-called engineers. Punks, with help of a wrench and a bottle of whisky, some incredible way can upgrade your weapon to a level that is not available even for galactic superpowers military. Ofcourse, this will take lots of time of grinding. When I discovered this, I didn't know to laugh or cry.. In any case, I can no longer take seriously ED setting ) I don't really understand the direction which FD moves ED. It is clear that no development of the social part of the game is not expected. And so..Empty planets, a dull missions, faceless factions, boring and pointless PP, unfair pvp.. that's all. Welcome back, commander)

Well i was just afraid that the game might be dead. Empty. I dont want to buy horizon to realize that every planets are the same but with a reskin. Instead of lava its a geyser. You know.

From what ive seen its look pretty boring to land on a planet.

For now, every planet is the same uninteresting and uninhabited thing, just random lifeless POI here and there.

I would wait at least for season 3 to see what brings and Im sure Horizons will have a price discount.

Every man and his dog is at the alien ruins right now.
You might find someone there to play with. :D

Alternately join a group, such as Mobius, there's always someone around the most common haunts.

Horizons is more then just planetary landings. I rarely land on planets but there is still a ton of stuff about Horizons that I enjoy.

Finding friends to play with is easy. Just join an active player minor faction.

It does depend on what you are looking for.

If you are bored with or dislike the base game mechanics then Horizons may appear to be more of the same on a different back drop.

The guys I used to play with moved on 6 months ago once they had got double elite and highest rank in both military. Not much left for them to do.

Given where you are with billions in the bank you are going to have to find something different to do to interest you as you have effectively won in one of the arcs.

As others suggest player groups could help.

Like you OP I left the game for a while....just after Engineers dropped in fact as it was a total nightmare deployment

I've just started playing again but I'm 10k ly out in the black so the new content is not relevant right now apart from a few quality of life upgrades which are nice.

Planetary landings are fun for a short while but in essence you have it correct - barren planets, very little to do, each one is a reskin of the last. There are exceptions (POI, settlements etc in the bubble) and you can get some great screenies and some cool scenery but not much else.

As for engineers, it put me off so much I left the game, now it seems you 'need' to use them if you are going to survive any sort of encounter with NPCs or Cmdrs. It's a real pain as I loved my combat but from what I read and hear it's not really possible to be effective without modding your ship extensively. When I get back to the bubble I will have the joy of trying to work out mods, RNG and material gathering and whether I even bother with any of it....I get the feeling I probably won't.

For now though I'm just enjoying flying around and exploring....well away from it all.

edit

Having read through my post I have to say it seems rather negative. I didn't mention once how much I'm enjoying the exploring, I love flying the ships, seeing the sights....it's what ED does very well....and it's brilliant. That, and it sort of feels like coming home....somehow

Nice analogy

It is sarcasm. OP want us to decide what he likes, which in reality isn't possible because people likes different things. OP should decide himself what he likes. There are plenty of resources to do that instead of asking strangers on a forum if he would like ED again.

why bother posting this question?

In the time it took you to do this pointkless question you could have started up Elite and found out for yourself if you liked it.

I think if you have to ask this question on the forum, then you are really not interested in playing the game.

The fact that there are so few positive posts should give you an answer.

Come to the Maia CG and that will really make up your mind! :D

Because im not blowing 40$ cnd for planetary landings just to find out how lame it is.

Ive started to play last night and ofund out the federation rank grind that i did before i left served nothing because now the corvette needs higher rank than before.

On top of that it is still a mess to know what to do to acquire naval ranks. Trying to get friendly with minor factions is now a pain in the    . People told me that i need to pay donations to earn ranks...     has this game become.

Where are my naval rank missions ?

It might just be the end for me. Not a good comeback impression so far.
