Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

Sorry what are the details for that? I might be able to pop over and assist in a bit if you can briefly summarize with planet/rystem.

Asterope is the system from the video. 3 suns are the only bodies in the system, one blue, one white and one yellow. Pick a star and fly around within the 200-600ls range or just fly around randomly.

Not sure if there's anything to find but if there is and it's in the system from the video it'll be in Asterope :)

not sure but very hopeful and determined to find something:D

also i wouldn't say fly around random more like around where the star's align correctly

I have today off and nothing much to do with it (for a change) so I'll keep a close eye on this thread and perhaps head out to Asterope later this afternoon, once I've had my fun at Xenohenge.

Asterope is a fairly well traveled system since it's the last jump for many on the way to Maia. If this is something that's there now, it shouldn't be too long before someone stumbles on it.

It has a lot of traffic, but if this is a unique USS placed somewhere far into the system then I don't think the standard traffic would find it.

by well travelled you mean scoop and jump?
the place we are looking for is least 200ls away from either of the star's
but now that more people are interested in this i'm gonna put the thing we know up next page again

Very similar to the column with a crystal on top!
Who can make 4k photo?
It is necessary to examine the remaining structure

Hey fellow explorers and scientists, If you need a break from scanning/shooting/scooping/pinging tearing your hair out over the mystery of the alien ruins, pop on over to planet 1D (same system)

Location co-ordinates

-63.5203
-129.4566

The holy grail?

Concerning the Ancient ruins, I have an idea to test: You know what might be missing from the site? An item that has actually been in game for a long time now. The illegal ancient artefacts that spawn in some USSs. I got some of them and going to the site for some some testing. If anyone is interested give me a poke.

Sorry if this sounds abit stupid.
But what exactly are we looking for around asterope, you know planet type, star type and what to look for in the sky etc

It seems like you have intercepted comms meant for undercover operatives.
These seem exactly like number stations used by spies to transit unbreakable code to each other. The real number stations, like the one below start with music to alert the agents that they should start listening. They will also use morse, but long lists of numbers are the most common. They are used by many different countries. The one I used here is German.

The good stuff starts about 2 mins in. They are incredibly creepy to listen to.

Yep, east german STASI (State Security Agency) and KGB used that in the sixties to eighties to pass messages to their operatives....

At 1:34 in this video:

There's the teaser scene with the wreckage, damaged cobra and the alien ship. We're hoping to find that. There's a blue star in the trailer, which is probably Asterope A, but maybe they used a light blue filter at one of the other stars. There's no planets or anything else in the system, so we're looking for a signal source that contains some of the stuff in the teaser.

Just been surveying the second potential alien site in Col 173 Sector KY-Q D5-47, but there's no planet in this system that has a comfortable human or otherwise temperature zone, It's either to hot, 180+ degrees C or too cold -70 degrees C. for the landable planets.

My bad the least cold planet is -36 C

Maybe still too cold?

Remember that the devs told us that Thargoids will burn their hands if they touch a human.

That means we are looking for really cold worlds.

Also, the system permits of the area on and beyond the system: Col 97 Sector PK-T B5-0, was maybe a clue before 2.2.

Maybe we are looking for brown dwarf systems that are extremely cold.

Me myself have no time to explore because I just have time to grind for the rebuy costs all week long. And the Powerplay rating maintenance on top. Not a single second left to do any exploring.

Update and summary for those who are in the search of the incident site where Granger and his friends got owned by an alien ship:

We are looking for the site witch was shown in the Gamescom message number 4,
Possibly an USS that becomes persistent once you find it in the Asterope System
NnXjHFl.png

SOvNatB.jpg
the system perfectly matches the star and background pattern found in the message but it was most likely either an earlier version of the palisade in the background
or on purpose modified witch goes for the star too witch makes its colour uncertain

Any CMDR who's searching the area is advised to align themselves around the stars between 150ls and 600ls
and if its possible with the above shown picture like orientation

I might also planning to organise the search today

Carbon dating only works on organic material. Not sure that would work at this site. You're right about measuring the rate of decay though. If there are radioactive elements at the site then you could theoretically be able to measure their age based on the ratio of the radioactive element to the element that it decays into. Frontier hasn't given us the in-game tools to measure this kind of thing though and I doubt they intend for us to solve it through interrogation.
Carbon dating works on non-organic materials too, as long as the material contains carbon at all. Also U need to know the the total carbon content only, as the dating is calculated by ratio of C16/C14 of the sample U have versus the natural C16/c14 ratio....

You mean C-12 not 16?

Edit to add: it generally also wants biological or material made from biological material as it is dependent on the carbon at the time of formation coming from the atmosphere.
