Criminal Mastermind passengers.

Wondering how other pilots are handling these missions when planet landings are the end point?
I took one on, 2 jumps from my base, used my cobra.
The destination turned out to be obscured, and I didn't realize it was a planetary landing until adv scanning the system.
Now, I know how to quickly dock into stations to avoid scans, but the base landing is not great for this.
As I approached the landing pad, get a "scan" warning, then poof, I'm gone.
Could've sworn there was no ships around.
Do bases perform scans now?
What would you guys do?
Forgo the landing, boost outta there, then retry?

If you have wanted or illicit cargo, have your finger on the "silent running" switch. Activating SR will break the scan and give you time to land. You'll probably ding the hull a bit but it's better than insta-killed.

Planetary base do have police ships, usually you can check a base on the system map to find out its security level.

Smuggling into planets is a bit more tricky then to stations, what cops there have are shifts. Wait for there chatter about the shiftchange and then you can sneak in while the old shift is away and the new one isn't there yet.

Also something else I've noticed which may be helpful in these situations (unscanned systems).

In each mission the destination is either listed as 'port' or 'starport'. If it says 'port' then you know in advance this will be a planetary landing.

:O  :S :x And many other emojis OMG is this for realz? FD you glorious        s, did you do this?

Ok, so tonight is Halloween so I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to try this out, but that is amazing. I want to do this. I want to hide on the outskirts of the colony and burst in for a sneaky landing during the shift change. It's like we're in an episode of Firefly.

You'll sometimes see a message about a cop having to come in to refuel, I'd assume that has the same effect as the shiftchange.

I was unaware silent running breaks scans, I always thought shooting was required.

Silent running doesn't break scans! It only prevents. So hit the silent running button as soon as you exit glide mode. If you hear "scan detected" it's already too late.

When you're resigned to the fact that you're going to get wasted, forever.
When you're spamming boost to get into the station, no time at all.
10 secs otherwise?

Yes, but it really is tricky as you have to wait somwhere around the place and even landed in silent Running hidden somwhere the cops sometimes find you and scan you.

I wonder if the stations are in contact with the security ships? As the stations have a stupid range, they say Hello at well over 10Km out and, do the ships become aware of your ship then? Security ships should be set by there radar range. Logically anyway.

My Anaconda was obliterated last saturday for two wanted passengers with no warning in the message board, I dont know who had the ...... idea in FD to destroy a full passenger ship for two criminals inside!, it's absurd to destroy a bus or an airplane in flight because someone discovered that are two criminals on board! LOL

The solution is very simple, put a fine over the pilot, let him dock and the wanted passengers are retained in the destination station or city when you deliver them, with no reward for the trip, easy!.

The other passengers are ejected, so no needless lose of life. Well that is the theory anyway.
