Horizons Overpowered ships

I'm glad to say that since the recent updates I haven't had any silly encounters when trading or in res sites but today not long ago I was doing a bit of trading in my python and was interdicted by an annaconda so I submitted so I could jump out straight after but the annaconda rammed me and blew up my python in about 5 seconds using buffed weapons, the ramming dropped my shields then a could of hits from the weapons and I was blown up :S
Even for an annaconda npc that's pretty OP considering I've fought an annaconda and 2 eagles that were in a wing, is anyone else still having this issue?

LOL you were in a Python and got outmaneuvered by an Annie?!?

The Python is a multirole ship, as is the Anaconda. The only real advantage a Python has is speed and maneuverability, the Annie has shields, armor, and firepower. If you get interdicted by an Annie, you run. He can't catch you. The fact that you stayed to fight played to his strengths, not yours. It would be a different story if you got interdicted by a Viper.

When did you fight said Anaconda wing? Before or after Engineers was released?

I'm guessing he was an Elite Anaconda? Otherwise without Elite AI and engineer mods the NPCs aren't usually successful at ramming smaller ships. I've noticed this behavior with all types of Elite NPCs, mostly Elite Anacondas and Fer de Lances. It tends to happen if you're winning and the fight goes well and suddenly the NPC decides to ram you and that shifts the fight in their favor at that point (usually because they're in a bigger ship). I'm not sure whether the ramming behavior is intentional or not, but hopefully FD will change it. The problem here is obviously that NPCs choosing to ram means that the game is no longer really skill-based for players because there is little you can do to prevent it at close range, particularly if the NPCs are Elite ranked and have thruster mods as they can pull off maneuvers that are hard for players to counter. I think it's an issue of NPCs that have no self-preservation behaviors and are just taking you down at any cost to themselves because they can take risks players wouldn't take. I mean it's not like an NPC has to buy a rebuy for their Anaconda or FdL. My solution at this point is to use a bit of reverse thrust to slowly fly backwards when I can to have a little more distance between the NPC and my ship in case they try to ram, but if I do get rammed and my shields drop I usually run away at that point as the risk/reward for staying in the fight has shifted to where it isn't worth it anymore, i.e., a 250k bounty versus 8 million rebuy on my python.

Happened to me a couple of nights back. The NPC rammed my Anaconda, took out my shields then bombarded me with weapons like I have not seen in a long time (the last time NPC's were boasting weapons mear mortals could not match). Cost me around 16 mil in credits, had to dig out my Python till I could afford to take out my 'conda. By the way this was just a bog standard trading run, he came from nowhere and was "Lawless" so no bounty even if I could win.
Moral?
Cut and run.

It is getting really old and boring, we are have, probably, 100 or more treads already where players blame the game for their incompetence, please, just die, it no point to telling everyone how terrible you are.

Hi guys, sorry I didn't reply about this so long ago I didn't think this would evenbe be noticed!! I really appreciate your input. Anyway moving on I opened up a thread about a theory I have on the ancient ruins, if you could all spread word and, find itout that'd be great :) fly safe

I've been rammed in 2.2 by NPC in a res. I looked at them head-on, yelled "BRING IT, .....!!!" and then went all ramming speed in return. Great fun! We must have hit head-on at 700 m/s.

I killed them shortly afterwards.

While fling missions for the Walter Waldo community goal, my clipper was blown away by a "super" Federal Drop Ship. I was interdicted and I chose to fight, so the old joust battle began. The first pass, my strong shields were down, and the second pass my engine malfunctioned. Third pass I was dead. I have owned an FDS and they are slow maneuvering with very weak shields. This thing was faster and more maneuverable than any ship I have seen In ED. Also the weapons were spitting out blue sparks. It made me remember that every time I have encountered one of these super ships, I was doing community goal missions. I don't know where that ship came from, but I want one.

Just attacked by an Adder. A very fast and overpowered Adder.
Green fast-firing lasers, 6 missiles in 2 to 2 and a half seconds.

I was doing my boost of about 380 in my AspX and waiting to see what he would do. 6 missiles in less than 3 seconds and then he came up past me like a rocket. (Our ships are rockets)
And he had to be doing about 500 compared to my 380.
No, he was not in supercruise as he was shooting all the time. Constant shooting as well. No down time for energy generation. He turned, flew back behind me then about 5 seconds later he overtook me again. Still shooting green burst lasers and shotgun pellets.

No way was I getting away from him. Guns were down thrusters were down. Yeah. I did log out. And he was only competent. Supposedly same as me.

You are in an ASP. You could have easily put 4 pips to SYS and low waked out of there.

Does a Hauler mass-lock an Asp?

I followed an Eagle in a res earlier - I was in an SLF trying it out. SLF can boost to 550 m/s. He out-ran me!!!

I think most NPC are now engineered some way...

I can't recall the exact situation. He was in an adder and I had guns out and 4 pips to weapons. I thought he could be done in but when the proverbial hit the wind machine I was mentally at a standstill. (Or something like that)

Mass lock figures are in EDDB ships but come to think of it, which ship mass locks the other. I think Mass Lock might be biased towards the attacker.

Mass lock is a size thing only. No advantage based on aggressor etc. Adder will not mass lock an Asp. Still, I think it's good to practice escapes until they are automatic to you. That way you won't freeze up at crucial moments. The low wake is easy. Just boost and charge fsd the second the cool down finishes (make sure hardpoints are in). Sometimes it will be things that can masslock you at which point you will have to high wake. There are several ways to go about this. My general rule is that after I have my target dock locked in, I'll go to the menu and drop the cursor down to nearest star system, just leave it there and exit the menu. That way, if I'm interdicted I can just drop to menu and everything is ready to go (I just have to target that system the menu is already aiming at) for the high wake. Best of luck.

Same deal for me, taken out by a wing with two Vipers and a Courier that locked on and fired missiles in seconds and took down my Python's shields in a matter of seconds, regardless of boosting and pipping up my systems to evade them

Did you only have a shield generator? What size/rating? What was the mass of the ship?

If your shields are going down fast, then they are simply too weak for your config. I found the Python needed augmenting with as many shield boosters as you can fit, as well as PD. Chaff works against AI pretty well, too - takes the heat off long enough to run away.

Just remembered, you said boost. I was boosting like crazy. Once he was all over me with his super fast and super manouverable Adder I wanted out pronto.

Mass lock is entirely based on the mass of the ship, and not biased to one side or the other. Simple numerical comparison. An adder cannot ever mass lock an asp.

I recently did some bounty hunting in my python, and I didn't have too much of a problem. I have a 6A or 6C shield generator (can't recall which off hand) with two shield boosters and two point defense. I went one on one with a Dangerous ranked FDL and won. Albeit, I did have to head back for repairs (hull at 43% by the end), but I won. Had a tangle with an Elite ranked fed gunship a little later, he had at least one missile rack and at least one thermal shock weapon (I got the notification from my ship). He didn't quite crack my shields even though I didn't have any pips to sys for most of that fight (needed the engines and the firepower more). I don't think any of his missiles even hit my shields anyways, the PD took care of that. I have yet to see an adder that required me to even spool up my MCs, as my pulse lasers are almost always enough to deal with the smaller ships.
