You know, How much testing have we done with the ancient orb? Its referenced as mechanical in it's info (and even states "no one has found a use yet") What if its a trigger or something for parts of the ruin? In a sense a lot of the other objects seem to be either just parts or Misc and yet the ball seems to be different.
We also have no reliable way of "placing" objects in elite either gravity or movement can mess with accuracy, But what is easy to move? A orb, it rolls, can be pushed, stopped and moved into place as such(with a bit of tedium i bet) and from personally trying to other relics into the "gaps" of the parts lying around I had trouble, yet the orb was a lot easier to try and move.

Could be that we need to get it somewhere on the site? possibly with the others too?

^ This. Been playing with it here and there trying to figure it out but there's been nothing.

One of the problems I encountered(while not the orb in this case/ it was the totem) is a lot of the wall barricades seem to be one big ole hitbox(aka I don't think you could "jam" a object into it) but yet some of the Stuff that looks like wiring seems to convince me otherwise that "something" can be done, Like why is mentioning the orb is mechanical important in its desc? Possibly it powers something, or just Glows when around the right spot? I'll have to do some checks when I get back to the site

Thats...Thats not a bad idea tbh I'll have to try it(Or at lest drop it on top)
 
Evening everyone :) Just got back from work and was ready to suggest something when I saw that Keeval has already proposed the same thing. So, has anyone performed the old school morse decoding on those UAs lying on the ground? Is it just the planetary coords, or maybe something more they have scanned?
 
Oh, another uncreative and boring engineer CG to further the story? I totally didn't joke about this last week at the ruins...

This is getting depressing. Instead of providing actual clues through the site itself they have to fall back on the crutch of CGs and Galnet. Disappointing, but pretty much exactly what I expected.
 
CG for possibly alien data? What could possibly go wrong? Let's do this guys. Who cares if it pays well? Lets get this story moving along. :)

Tried a few other things at Site 1 today prior to giving up:

- Rolled three relics on top of a green vein. No effect.
- Placed relics at the 3 corners of the grid around an obelisk segment. No effect.

Basically, there's very little interaction here. I'm beginning to wonder if the mechanic of the site isn't fully done yet.

Like I said, I made multiple half-jokes about it while at the ruins last week. I'd hoped FD would actually put some effort into this, but no. I don't really have any respect left for them left, at this point. It really doesn't look like they care at all about an actual mystery; just drip-feeding content through simple clues gained from boring, relog-fest CGs.

I already did a rough check, I've been on the site and listened to the morse:
if your ship is present, the UAs on the site scan it, and then they draw the ship as usual.

If you go there in your SRV, leaving the ship far away so that the UAs do not scan it (> 1000 mt), I still don't know, I forgot to check this particular situation.
But I suspect they will morse the system as usual.
If someone wants to do that recording for me, I'll check it. But, please, turn off the music, and put the Debug Cam as closer as you can to the working UA, or the morse will be hard to decode.

However, I do not think something new will happen.

Given that they've resorted to a CG this quickly, I'm gonna say yes.

COuld be it needs to awaken first(aka FD is holding out for a bit to give us time to "test") and soonish we'll get something to work (Kinda like the morse in the UA changing etc)

What do you expect when a thread full of dedicated people finds out they're being artificially limited thanks to a lack of effort from the game's developer? Some of them are going to be rightfully angry about it.

Some of them maybe but some not so who cares its what's happening. Can't cater for everyone and its just how fdev do it and have done for so long. Make a thread if it bothers you enough, if not back to the topic
