The "They will pay for what they did" implies a bit of extra plot - probably related to the CG from the same group last year (mentioned in the announcement), where explosive delivery was thwarted or something?

So probably not aliens, unless as someone else mentioned they're making something to kill Thargoids.

Best guess? Thargoids have been decimated by Virus, they are going to make an antidote. Since Toxandji Virocide is 1. Very Rare and 2. "self destructs" and can't be traced...well...

What I find hilarious is there a guy on the Xbox forums that had accidently stumbled upon this CG 2hr 30m ago bscause Elli is his home system. The puzzle was solved before it even transmitted.
