Hello folks, a favour to ask of the community and that of Canonn Research.
I've been feeling the need to better join in and, in a way, contribute a bit more - to both the community and the game universe. I've thought about doing some small, monthly, free publications that will be downloadable via e-Book (kindle) - in a way, this keeps me writing a bit of sci-fi and give back to the community, but also gives me another hobby to occupy myself with.
I have many fun ideas to turn this publication into a sort of condensed newsletter (with some fun surprises I don't want to spoil, but the publication will be treated as something you "could"/"would" read in 3302) - filled with the news with various writers (including myself) putting their own spin on things.
This may sound like "the news and happenings" as Obsidian Ant does in his videos (whom I'm a great fan of myself), but the free publications
is intended to be more sci-fi/fictional as stuff happens in the game - rather than news about Elite in real life. I'm a self-publisher, and have many years of experience in this field myself - so publishing is not a problem, and getting the files ready (either in PDF or Kindle format) is no problem (though kindle files may come later as they can be a problem with lots images) shouldn't be a problem. I can spell check, grammar check, do the covers (see below, took 1.5hrs to do) and add images throughout.
The first issue I want to focus on as a starter issue is the Bioships - I love the look of them as I'm sure everyone else does.
So many people have provided so much great stuff in this thread alone, I would like to ask you - the community and Canonn - for your blessings in adding your images/research into the first test publication. The content will range from loads of people and theories - and I'm aware that not everyone keeps up all the time with how fast the threads go - so unless you can personally contact me via these forums and PM me, I will refer to most stuff in the articles as "Canonn Researchers" to generalize content etc.
Be aware, I won't be able to cram everything in if I get a lot of responses - I'm aiming for a decent, short magazine ranging from between 10-20 pages of content (practically all fictional in the Elite universe) - so I'll do my best to make an enjoyable read for your kindles/e-readers if I can get the next steps done:
I'll have to also ask Frontier permission above all else - but as I'm out with my other half and daughter tonight for fireworks night, I'd thought asking you guys and girls first would be one step further until I get back later on tonight.
So - what I want to know is this, peoples! Can I use the Canonn threads and community bits and bobs (images/theories ((backed up by names if possible))/) to make free online publications? Also - if you provide content (short stories/news stories), I will add your spydo-names (however it is spelled - fame name, like Rowling - sorry, dyslexic, and firefox spell checker is bad) or real names (whatever you prefer) to the pages inside the magazine (in its own section before/after the copyright page).
Next step - I'll try and get into contact with Frontier themselves and get their blessings.
Below is the potential front cover for this month's issue
Thanks all!

P.S. There will be a small "In association with..." stamp just above the Canonn logo... ^^ oops!
