No love @ E3?

Sorry for the rant but, it's like waiting for a flower that blooms once every ten years in the dark. When it finally starts happening the wife walks in and flicks the light on.

Many may disagree, but I don't think anyone is as excited as I am ... I had literally waited years for Elite Dangerous and now it's happening. (it's why I get so passionate and emotional and say the wrong things ... because I care)

The reason?

Elite: Dangerous is not on a console and the gaming press dogma at the moment is PC gaming is dead so they effectively ignore it.

Anyone analyze movie trailers and study which ones will increase ticket sails or not??

Not an expert, but the trailer for No Man's Sky did get me interested at the possibility of exploring new worlds rather than exploring the astronomy of 400 billion star systems.

No Man's Sky just hit the wow button for a broader group of people than those interested in just space ships, flight mechanics, realistic universe, etc.

I am reminding of my trip to see Europe's famous sites. After awhile all the historical sites start to look the same. Oh look, here's an old church. Oh look there, another old church.

I think ED's new trailer is great, but I think the trailer for No Man's Sky is more 'attractive' to the broader general public.

Yeah, they'd love PCs to stop being used for games so that the consoles can dictate what everyone plays ... I am so glad that will never happen, and if some industry people get upset at that, tough.

I am wary of No Man's Sky ... it's like they're drawing attention to all the shiny and away from the important stuff

Ah another dreaded foot in mouth disease sufferer. ;)

Same here (obviously). I just realized I'm old. You kids get off my lawn ;)

Totally agree.

No Man's Sky has me absolutely salivating - it looks absolutely eye and mind-boggling. The only game I'm looking forward to more that ED

BUT.

For all that ED is maybe a bit more grimy and a bit less Rah-Rah-Oooo-Wow, I have a much clearer idea about how the game will be challenging, unique and fun. Don't have this for NMS at all yet - just a boat-load of high expectations!

Still - an amazing time to be a space-sim fan, no?

No Man's Sky impressed me in no way. Seemed far too arcadey (the entries and exits from atmosphere especially, but also the 90's style space fights).

I have higher hopes for the planetary landing module of Elite: Dangerous when it comes out.

Well it's clearly not a space sim, that's why. As an infinite sci-fi/fantasy planet explorer, I've never seen/couldn't imagine better.

Yeah, they really hyped it up with the trailers, but if they do it wrong most of the systems won't have interesting life-filled planets and the life-forms could start looking the same.

It took a while to develop Spores, so they would have to add quite a bit of variation in their procedures to make it diverse and interesting.

I think this is one key aspect that David Barden is fully aware that it needs to be done right.

I'm looking forward to ED more than NMS, but I really like the look of NMS, and may invest, once it makes it to P.C.

It looks like you're flying through a collection of Chris Foss worlds - and I like his stuff

Hell, I may even buy SC - but will wait 'till that one comes out I think.

Hmm.
From what I saw E: D got RAVE reviews!
How often do you see a title with little to NO criticism?
Everything I read from those who actual had hands-on were squealing like most of us.
Granted, little to nothing from the paid-to-promote your game sites but what do you expect from those ($ellout$)?
I didn't catch the 2nd award (if there was one) but FD can walk home TALL and you can bet the farm a great many gamers are going to jump on the sidewinder train by release!
As y'all say 'cross da pond, good on ya mates!

Because ED is a niche Game, VERY niche, wished by very old farts arround 40. Younger ppl (<30) give a <EDIT> on a Games like Elite. Because ED needs patience. To be patience is very uncool nowadays, now we need social awareness, "interesting" things every 5 seconds and accessibility.

I think this sums up for me .. Why worry about promoting a product that isn't released yet? .. I say, "Keep your powder dry CMDRS".

E3, as I understand is mostly an industry event and may be the place for FD to find investment, for all we know, to resources for accelerating expansions or including some of the great features suggested in forums. Corporate deals, as any banker knows, are all about subversive and subtle playing of cards, little by little, step by step, "ni shin getsu, po"

If E: D is unfindable post E3 2015 (given DB's mention of late 2014 release), THEN it will be a time to worry but until release .. CMDR .. you are part of the best kept secret this side of Io!

+1 to that!

I dunno about this. All the gaming sites I think aren't crap seem to have covered Elite: Dangerous. Some have even given it awards.

It was never going to get the coverage that some AAA games will.

I liked what I saw from E.D and the game has a huge potential. I could see they have changed the cockpit interface a bit, it looked more polished and the new space station looks cool. And I guess they have some cards in the sleve for us in future Beta/Gamma releases. More ships and content. Well, thats obvious :p

When chatting and partying of commanders becomes availeble the milky way will be full of new stuff happening. Teamwork, groups, missions and stuff. No mans sky looked to cartoonish.

Thats true, some Gaming sits in germany gave ED some focus. But its always the same : Not that much commenting by the readers, IF they are comments they are comming from "old" Elite Fans or sometimes SC ppl´s that wonder about the "strange" ship design that ED have to offer.
