Engineers Please Change Black Box and Data Salvage Missions

I really enjoyed Sothis Ceos and Robigo missions. Yes they payed well. But perhaps more importantly, what was incorporated in them was multiple hops and sometimes within a short period of time. The Black Box salvage and Data salvage missions are quite frankly boring to say the least. So my request is to make them shorter in duration but also less time from the discovery aspect. Sitting around waiting for something to come along for 20min+ at a time is not going to keep people playing E.D. for the next 10 years (and most players are limited to a couple of hours per day). So waiting for something to appear has zero game play satisfaction. So why not make the mission duration shorter so that you have to complete 3 missions within an hour and have the Data or Black Box show earlier (or perhaps be there as soon as you arrive). I am trying to understand where E.D. is heading and keeping people excited for the next 10 years. Players want to be engrossed in what they are doing. They have short periods of time to play in most cases and want maximum enjoyment in that time. So I would ask that you consider two things. Make the missions so that they are within a much short time period (30 mins to 2 hours) to complete. This would allow a number of missions to be spread over that time. Secondly change the narrative. "We have just found out that there is a black box at Colonis A5. We need you to get there and bring it back to us asap. We fear it will be gone with the next "x" minutes "x" hours." And have it visible as soon as you arrive (or within a minute or so). I'm not understanding why everything has to be so drawn out. I'm not asking for arcade game play, but just a little more thought that most players play for a relatively short duration each day and want to maximize their experience.

i like all of your ideas, but "Sitting around waiting for something to come along for 20min+ at a time" is either a hyperbole, or you are "doing it wrong" :)

go to target body, throttle zero or cruise approx 7-9 mio km from planet, and you'll get the mission related uss in less than 4 minutes - i play a lot of those missions (for BGS reasons).

anyway, waiting for things to spawn does not make good gameplay anyways!

You must be doing them wrong.
I just fly to the location I get after a scan (or a mail) and most of the time I find them in orbit of a planet within the scope of a few minutes.
Sometimes a few bogies turn up and attack me, which livens up the event.

Not quite sure what you mean by this.
I would like a shorter timer on certain missions. Every mission having a 24 hour timer is boring.
But nothing is making it impossible to do the missions in a shorter time.
You can do these missions in 10 to 15 minutes if you want to.

But what if you never receive a mail which points you to the right planet?
I recently took some of these missions in a system with 10+ planets and failed to find the "Unknown sites" related to these missions. I ran close to every planet but the correct sites never turned up and still no mail for a location hint.

This is where these mission start to be tedious but maybe I am doing something wrong ...

Invisible on my ipad so no idea what your point was. Could we have it again in common old black on white?

I was going to say! I am using the White UI color scheme for the forum, so the OP's post is just an empty box unless I highlight it, and then I can see a wall of text with no punctuation of any kind.

Sounds like he is complaining about Mission Based USS taking too long to spawn? I would tend to agree that often times they can prove problematic since they don't seem to follow a formula as to WHEN and WHERE they will appear.

I would much prefer Frontier change these to be fixed locations like Visitor Beacons instead of a special version of a USS. Lets face it... There is no mystery here to ruin by having these revealed immediately. We all know what we are looking for, plus the ship computer announces their detection anyway. Just place them at the destination body somewhere and be done it. No more circling around and around trying to find the hidden button to activate the spawn!

Scanning the nav beacon in the target system always gives a message with the target body. With an ADS you don't even have to drop out to scan the beacon.

These missions usually only take 5-10 minutes from accepting to handing in, never had any problems with them. The most I've had to wait when flying around the target body is probably about 2 minutes, but it's normally more like 30-60 seconds.

I second that. Only place I've had to wait for a long time for mission-specific USSes to spawn has been the Colonia system. It seems that these types of USSes are added to the random spawn of the USSes in general, so if they are already rare events, one can wait for a long time. They should, as stated by OP, be there already if indicated by the mission information regardless of general frequency of USS spawns.

I often just go in orbit maybe 5 Mm away from the planetary body in question, and usually the instance spawns before I reach the 3rd orbit.

:D S

I found them to be pretty straight forward. Was doing them out of Sirius for Modular Terminals for Gwent and managed to get 26 pretty quickly, mostly by doing Black Box salvage missions. Even had one to Alpha Centauri that fortunately wasn't near Hutton. ;)

Definitely MUCH faster than the how they used to be going in and out of USSes until you found the right one. Generally didn't have to wait any more than a minute or two once I got to the location and just throttled down.
