Engineers Phasing sequence - Possible new meta?

I've been trading on my cutter and got interdicted by a player conda. I noticed my hull going down pretty fast. Checking sub-systems, it turns out he was rocking 4 pulse lasers along with other weapons. After the 3rd interdiction, I high-waked away and ended up with 38% hull and about 50% shields left.

- We also know they also ignore hull resistance
- Of note, I noticed they can actually damage your canopy, even though the shields are up (Canopy was at 64% while every module was still at 100%).

It's definitely better than heat meta in my opinion, since this one actually lets you escape, and has some workable counter, such as outfitting better bulkheads and more hull reinforcements for higher hull integrity.

Your thoughts?

yep. phasing sequence with ROF pulses ... somehow you have to er those 4000+ mj shields ... after point defence being buffed, heat being nerfed, that's a way to go.

In the last 7 days I've rolled 14 phasing pulses, spread between rapid fire and overcharged.

Yes, if you want to somewhat even the playingfield against the hull tankers, you'll need some of these and a feedback rail. Heat is still great, but more optional.

Mmmm. I was thinking of turning my FDL into a tank-buster:

4 fixed rapid fire pulses with phasing sequence

1 rail gun with short range blaster + feedback cascade + level 3 synthesis ammo

Funny how the cheapest weapons are usually the most powerful ones. But yes, stack as much ROF pulses as you can and maybe a feedback rail. But generally FDL once again, hull tank or hybrid with ROF pulses.

Awaiting next META in the next major patch 2017.

Though I am wondering, does phasing sequence ignore armor piercing? As in, will a medium-sized pulse laser with phasing do full damage against a shielded cutter?

It's not really a meta to be honest. Phasing Sequence is fairly balanced anyway, you lose 10% of your damage and while it's true it's not affected by resistances, it's affected by outright hull strength and even then, if you die to phasing, it's your own fault as you would have had plenty of opportunity to escape as it isn't an instant "I win" due to the length of time to actually do effective amounts of damage
