That combat logging was actually an issue

And because most people on the forums don't care about it doesn't mean it's an issue?

If we we're to put mining, piracy, bounty hunting, trading and exploration issues side by side and asked which ones should be paid attention to and bounty hunting starts winning it means that no other profession has important issues?

I have never combat logged, but to be honest the fact that most here seem to not see it as a massive issue should say something .. is it the thrill of the kill that makes people mad when they are denied that "pleasure" ... who knows ?

I don't log. Never have, never will. I've made mistakes or run into bugs or been ganked and had to eat an expensive rebuy, but that's all part of the game. And yes it IS cheating.

Buuut ... I still voted no. I just can't find it in me to care what other people do. Log, don't log, I don't give a monkey's.

So do you even play the game or are you wilfully not mentioning PvP piracy for the sake of it? I'm surprised you didn't mention all PvPers are evil psychopaths tbh.

Once upon a time people didn't think of slavery as a massive issue. Or in other words: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum

Only had a little gleg at the discussion, I voted no...even though I play solo. The reason is this......Anaconda vs T9 is a combat situation = Anaconda pilot cheating. Imagine if a heavy weight boxer tried to fight a middleweight boxer and the middle weight boxer jumps out the ring and scarpers after getting pounded for a minute.....would anyone have sympathy for the heavyweight boxer whining that the middleweight boxer "cheated" by scarpering?

I would rather FD implement non lethal piracy and a way for the difference in ship cost to be immediate taken out of the winners bank balance, so 600mil anaconda takes out a 50 mill ship.....anaconda player get's 550 mill taken out of their account. That would stop seal clubbing. May have some BH issues though.

I do feel sorry for those who LEGITIMATELY play a Pirate and pick their targets fairly, and Bounty hunters who get denied a kill. But this is a problem caused by the skanks who seal club IMO. Sort them out and then things could improve.

That's not cheating, that's the in-game mechanics. And, you know what? There's actually a way for that middle weight boxer to scamper away: it's called high-waking!

PVPers, gankers give you a bad name, join me, together we can make open GREAT AGAIN, all we need is a wall...
There, there, just trump-trolling here, don't get an heart attack over it :p

Godwin Point award, congratulations ! ;)

Seriously dude, you need to chill out : no one is witch hunting pvp here. Hell, if anything, real PVPers help with the gankers (Jognt, if you read this, yeah, you're my hero =)

But really, if the majority doesn't give a damn about CL, I think we should know.

I'll happily support combat logging, as long as you only do it against someone who only wants to kill you for the 'thrill' of clubbing baby seals. Because then they come to the forums to cry about it, and make fools of themselves in the process. It's absolutely hilarious.

I'm not a fan of that kind of game play myself. I don't understand just killing people for no reason myself.

I still... don't think it's a valid reason to cheat though.

I think it's a valid reason 'cuz it's funny. Which is at least more honest than claiming to "roleplay" as a combat logger. :p

Any sane definition of combat has the prerequisite that both parties agree to armed conflict. If only one side wants it then it is pure mugging - not combat.

I personally do not care about mugging logging.

Well.. not really, combat doesn't require an agreement, it normally occurs because of the lack of an agreement!

"mugging" or piracy, is entirely normal practice in the game world.

Randomly killing people.... well, I personally don't think it should be legitamate game play, because I tend to think if you are "roleplaying" a psycopath, then you should roleplay being inside a locked room after you make a few kills, and then land at a station. The none crazies would lock you up, that's what happens.

Generally roleplaying "monsters" doesn't work out too well in any game world where your mostly within civilised society.

But I guess that's a different conversation.

Please fix the many broken game mechanics before worrying about this misconceived issue.

Sure.

Not the question though. The question is, do people care about this type of cheating? if so, why?

I voted "No" because predominately I play solo which means other players actions don't affect me. However, I would never combat log myself out of principle (even in solo).

Smart. (no irony here)

And one I'd like to follow : next gen video / roleplaying games stuff right there !
But back to the topic at hand ...

If this thread shows anything, it is that they might *not*.

Given the importance a lot of players (myself included) thought it had, this most certainly deserves an official poll. Which FD won't make because ... because .... because of what exactly FD ?

FD : "Oh, you know what ? Forget it, we'll do YET ANOTHER cqc / XBOX / PowerPlay stream instead."

*sigh*

Right on, FD ...

Non lethal pirate tools are the way to go, tools that bleed cargo from the 'victim'. That would add incentive's to play a pirates content, as that anger at losing the 40m credit wouldn't be on the table.

Too true.

Sleepy time for me. Will drop back in 8 hours or so and see how the numbers are looking. Very interesting to see that so far we AGAIN have a 70/30 split, this is becoming far too predictable.

Night folks. Play nice.

I was in the 70% last time though. So I have swapped ( "SIDES"!!! ) apparently.
