this thread is at the moment 443 pages of comments, observations and hard work of deciphering what the alien site is.
I am not a rocket scientist, I am not familiar with ciphers, codes, Stella calculations, astro physics, astronomy , brail, spectrograms or any of the wonderful talents shown by the Cmdrs who have figured out the stage of play we are at.
I am just a simple space Cmdr who does a bit of trading and a bit of exploring, and while I have an interest in crashed ships and the alien base, it seems there is not a hope in hell that my simple brain would even think of some of the answers the community is coming up with to try and solve the puzzle we have before us.
I of course could figure out a simple code like 1=A, 2=B ect.
If this is a puzzle created by Elite Dangerous for the average player to figure out, then it should be aimed at the intelligence level of the average player, if this puzzle needs special tools or ciphers, then they should be supplied or able to be found on the alien site.
Four hundred and forty three pages of comments, countless thousands of hours of searching and complicated thinking and where are we, imho no further than when the ancient base was first discovered.
inho the answer is rearly simple and we all are overthinking this, or Elite Dangerous is deliberately not providing us with the ability to find the clues we need.
Your thoughts please.

It is possible that the quick discovery of the ruins has caught FD off guard, and don't have the next stage in place yet (encoded at the ruins). There's also the chance that FD are letting see how this runs and uses what is said here as further ideas to put in game. But something deep down says that the next step is already waiting for discovery, I just wish it was a little more accessible to the casual/average player. But, heck, what this community has achieved so far with this mystery is inspiring nonetheless!Cmdrs.

Cool - don't forget to share the location so we can all take a look![]()
Hi all - sorry, probably being dumb but I'm just updating my book marks. So as I understand it we now have 3 alien crash sites: Pleiades Sector AB-W B2-4, HIP 17862 & HIP 17403. My problem is that I couldn't find any mention of HIP 17403 in the OP here (I eventually had to go and dig it's location out from the Lave Radio show notes).
Have I just missed it? (boy those 1st posts are getting pretty confusing now but if someone could point me in the right direction) or has it just not been added yet?
Now, please, CMDRs, I beg you... do not start asking: "have you tried shooting at it... with the purple lazors?"
Please don't...

But presumanly the planet is moving so the telescope direction is only 'correct' at a specific point in its rotation. Need to figure out the arc of sky it is tracking over a full rotation.
Check again now.![]()
Hahaha, genius![]()
Now I see nothing in the first posts about the alien crash sites or the ancient ruins whatsoever. I feel like I'm missing out on some in-joke here?
