Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

Cmdrs.
this thread is at the moment 443 pages of comments, observations and hard work of deciphering what the alien site is.

I am not a rocket scientist, I am not familiar with ciphers, codes, Stella calculations, astro physics, astronomy , brail, spectrograms or any of the wonderful talents shown by the Cmdrs who have figured out the stage of play we are at.

I am just a simple space Cmdr who does a bit of trading and a bit of exploring, and while I have an interest in crashed ships and the alien base, it seems there is not a hope in hell that my simple brain would even think of some of the answers the community is coming up with to try and solve the puzzle we have before us.

I of course could figure out a simple code like 1=A, 2=B ect.

If this is a puzzle created by Elite Dangerous for the average player to figure out, then it should be aimed at the intelligence level of the average player, if this puzzle needs special tools or ciphers, then they should be supplied or able to be found on the alien site.

Four hundred and forty three pages of comments, countless thousands of hours of searching and complicated thinking and where are we, imho no further than when the ancient base was first discovered.

inho the answer is rearly simple and we all are overthinking this, or Elite Dangerous is deliberately not providing us with the ability to find the clues we need.
Your thoughts please.

OH how sorely mistaken you are... you may find the links to the other threads on the front page.

Isn't one over 1000 pages?

It is possible that the quick discovery of the ruins has caught FD off guard, and don't have the next stage in place yet (encoded at the ruins). There's also the chance that FD are letting see how this runs and uses what is said here as further ideas to put in game. But something deep down says that the next step is already waiting for discovery, I just wish it was a little more accessible to the casual/average player. But, heck, what this community has achieved so far with this mystery is inspiring nonetheless! :)

Forgive me if this has been mentioned, but how was the research sight found? Listening posts, I know, but which ones? The front page did not seem to list which listening posts were used. I would like to "find" it myself.

Welcome to the Canonn, CMDR :) If it seems impossible, then we just adjust our tinfoil, have another biscuit and hit it from another angle. The Fdevs are few, we are many!

Welcome Gaffa! If you go back and look at all of the past puzzles and what it took to solve them you will see just how difficult it waz...at least to me anyway

I am just a grunt...the galaxy needs ditch diggers too! So i just wait until someone says Hey we need more people to help search here and I'm happy to pitch in

Hi all - sorry, probably being dumb but I'm just updating my book marks. So as I understand it we now have 3 alien crash sites: Pleiades Sector AB-W B2-4, HIP 17862 & HIP 17403. My problem is that I couldn't find any mention of HIP 17403 in the OP here (I eventually had to go and dig it's location out from the Lave Radio show notes).

Have I just missed it? (boy those 1st posts are getting pretty confusing now but if someone could point me in the right direction) or has it just not been added yet?

You just missed it Alec (thought it's not obvious at first glance), I'm sure when Riz has some spare time he'll tidy it up a bit nudge, nudge [haha]

It's behind the Spoiler tag under the heading
A NEW BEACON POPPED UP IN CANONN'S HOME SYSTEM, TO HELP US WITH THE NONOGRAM:
NONOGRAM WAS FINALLY SOLVED AND IT LED US TO A NEW ALIEN WRECKAGE + SHIPS GRAVEYARD BONUS!

Now, please, CMDRs, I beg you... do not start asking: "have you tried shooting at it... with the purple lazors?"
Please don't...

:D

Well this theadnaught was started to explore the mysteries of the E D universe, which of late have involved morse & other codes, so if you don't like it you may be reading the wrong thread

But presumanly the planet is moving so the telescope direction is only 'correct' at a specific point in its rotation. Need to figure out the arc of sky it is tracking over a full rotation.

A very good point, but I am not entirely sure that this telescope isn't tracking as the ball it is mounted on appears to have rotation in any axis and the 'bars' on the front are not aligned vertically or horizontally but at an odd angle which might suggest it has been tracking???

There are plenty of other faster moving objects at the Research facility such as the 'radar' like object and two antennas on a tall mast.

Of course it may not be tracking at all in which case your sky arc point is very good thinking well worthy of a biscuit or two [big grin]

I have also added an arrow and circle around the red nebula if it makes it easier to spot and ID

Check again now. ;)

Hahaha, genius :D

Now I see nothing in the first posts about the alien crash sites or the ancient ruins whatsoever. I feel like I'm missing out on some in-joke here?

Edit: annnnd it's back again - what the hell is going on?

Incidentally, re: the "lazy commanders" jibe ... not quite sure how to take that. First you constantly remind people that they should check the first post and then when I do check the first post and report that something as vital as the location of a crashed alien ship is missing from it you suggest I'm being lazy.
