Well, if I am not allowed by game features to compare the GalMap with the skybox (no "get me there" mechanics), at least I can search inside the system comparing between what my honk device and my eyes (with specs) see.
I always try to scan every body appearing in my Nav panel ... but do ALL actually be reflected there ? "Unchartable" sure means also "unhonkable" ...
Let's go...one more time ...

Can't remember the exact phrasing, but I think Drew said we may have seen *aspects* of it but not recognised it. So itmay be spread out over a large area (which was what intrigued me about the missing galactic arm theory)

The anagram has the same feel as the vain queen phrase. Did you try going down other paths picking apart 'the moon card mr gin"? Like iv-3 to get iv-c, there are a lot of them. Or that it breaks down into those two images of the moon card and the mr gin label, holding up both and meditating on them for an answer to appear? I guess you did. It's a very evocative anagram.

What I did was to take the xviii that is writen on the moon cards and make a system name. Xv-i was given from the structure of system names.
I didn't find any xv-i i systems, so I did the ii=2=B. There area a few EAFOTS xv-i b sysems. The 37-0 was a guess based on the mr gin logo.

When I think about it now, the EAFOTS xv-i B50-0 system actually fits even better as the label says 500cl.


Everything here is based on the 'coordinates at end of message' thing. That might be bogus.

The moon card, representing fear, voyages to the unknow and dual personality is however worthy of more atention. The ambasador Waite, wolf and dog hints giving it even more weight.

Guys, I think I might have come across something.

This may have been a bug, or a hardware glitch, or just space madness setting in, but something just happened that was absolutely chilling and bizarre.

Over the past few days, I have been completing a patchwork study of various EAFOTS systems between the Heart & Soul nebulae. I began above the galactic plane just to get my bearings and worked my way down and rim-ward.

Well today, I jump into EAFOTS DJ-G B25-O and immediately something is not right. I throttle down, but there is this sound which starts to get louder and louder. It sounded like a static-filled and patchy ship scan, but I was not using my ADS or DSS. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and it was downright unsettling. The noise, to which the only analogy I could make would be a choppy radio transducer, persisted for what seemed like 10-20 seconds max before fading away. I scoured the system, scanning every planet and checking for lights on the dark sides of the planets. I tried jumping out of the system and jumping back in twice, and alas the noise was not there. Additionally, I checked the Formidine Rifter's Spreadsheet, and noted that this system has not been officially "checked," for what it's worth.

Is anyone nearby which could visit this system and see if the noise can be replicated, or if it was just on my end? Again, I'm certainly not discounting the possibility it could have been a hardware issue and/or a bug, but this "noise" honestly chilled me, and sounded like something was very close to the ship. I'm kicking myself that I did not have Shadowplay running.

Hey Ouberos,

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I'm definitely cool (and also armed ;)). I noted the noise when in solo play (ability to capture high-res screenshots), and am not in-game anymore, but I'm very eager to hear your findings.

Next time I'm in-game I'll add you!

ALSO of note: If you happen to have shadowplay or some other form of game recording tech, I'd recommend having it up and ready before jumping into the system, as the noise began immediately and did not last very long. By the time I fumbled to turn it on, the noise had dissipated.

Sadly unable to replicate but always worth a try

Edit. Landed on 1A rocky moon and turned off HUD to look at the stars. Am getting a background noise I've not heard before.
Like a seagull. With a weird scratchy noise.
Probably always been there

After several attempts to re-create the noise under various conditions, I have not been able to replicate what I heard either.

Many thanks to you guys for helping me investigate. I'm glad we could have some extra ears out here listening, and make sure this wasn't some clue.

Maybe it's something, most likely not...but I am posting this short video I made for 2 reasons:

1) It gives you a visual representation of the "The vain queen, rides..." sentence. As you can see the Heart and Soul Nebulae lie directly in between the three constellations.
2) I then enable X-Ray view and something comes up right next to the Heart Nebula (or above, for the viewer), which is not visible with a naked eye.

What is it? It seems to be to the right of the Heart Nebula, closer to the Formidine Rift, right? I know it's most likely not related to the game but what is it?

There are a couple of neutron stars on the RR side of Heart. I am surprised the black hole at the "top" of Heart didnt show up on the xray mode. This isn't in ED, so what is the basis for this tool?
