no PC gamer love at E3

I watched a video from Tested.com where they try out the Rift at E3 ... and no mention of Elite Dangerous :(
Kerrash said something about not being able to mention / use the rift in promotion (not sure exactly what he said) and that was from Oculus themselves. I don't understand why Oculus want to distance themselves from Elite Dangerous, but that's their choice.

To be fair, Star Citizen wasn't listed either. No idea why.

Maybe because Star Citizen didn't really have a presence at the show...Chris only went there for the on stage demo he did. They didn't have a booth or room.

I still think that Frontier should make an appearance at Gamescom though. Worthy games there get plenty of media love.

Yes, I'm hoping that is planned too.

Also find it weird that Pc Gamer didn't pick up on it...the people there seem to absolutely love the game based on this article/video.

Maybe Andy Kelly was sick or not allowed to go to E3? :D

That didn't stop No Man's Sky from being included in the listing and all they had was a trailer. Even the BBC saw fit to give them a huge write-up:

I'm pretty sure they changed the title of this article. Before it said that the game was the best at E3

I don't know. Obviously all the focus seems to still be on gaming consoles, even though PCs have come down in price a lot.

I think Elite Dangerous impressed at the show, but because it's only destined for PC/Mac and there is no console company to court, it gets less attention than it deserves.

Also, even though it's plans are to eventually have planetary landings and moving around your ship etc, the media like immediacy and No Man's Sky offered them a visual representation of that.

Ever since Pc gamer gave a 85/100 in a review for Rome 2 total war they have lost all credibility to me anyway. They probably just threw in the games that they think people want to see there as the 'best of E3'. Mainly big publisher games.
Also don't expect no mans sky to stay indie for very long. Won't be long before some publisher throws a big pile of dough to them. The game really has a big arcade feeling which always attracts a lot of people.

E3 has gradually moved over to be a bit more on the console side during the last few years. I think nowadays GamesCom is the one mass market expo where PC games still have weight.

AFAIK No Man's Sky isn't even coming to PC first - it'll be a PS4 exclusive to begin with???

The reason was because we were using HD prototypes that are no longer manufactured and won't be for sale. The OR people came over to our meeting room (which was on the level above the show floors); I showed some of the guys the ropes, one of which was a huge fan of Elite on C64 and a backer, and they seemed impreseed :)

Plus, someone from PC Gamer US (not one of the guys doing the official coverage) came over because she heard from Chris et al that it was amazing, and was also really enthusiastic.

The reason why No Man's Sky has captured the imagination of so many people at E3 was because of two reasons. PS4 timed exclusive and it was shown at the Sony conference.

If FD had done the same thing (which obviously they are not in a position to do), then it would have come away with more E3 exposure.

In the end PC games always take a back step at E3 to the consoles, its been like that for a long time. FD could have made a bigger deal of it, but that would have cost them a fair amount of wedge to do so.

In the end ED won one 'Game of E3 award' and it had a couple of Gamespot videos...

Not too shabby and far better than what SC got, if you want to compare.

Two (joint) Best of E3 awards actually :D

Already happened, I think. I don't know how these things work but I don't think Sony would want to put their name on it, if they weren't sure it was going to come out.

I was just going to come on here and post this when I saw this thread.

I jumped the gun in another thread so, I'll give it a couple days to see if they are just behind a bit before I unleash my full stupidity upon them :D
