Engineers 45LY Range?

I rolled 15 times with Felicity Farseer and from a 31LY jump range in that configuration I shot up to 45LY. That isn't really good at all, considering people are getting 50+LY ranges. I took off my hardpoints (which I had on to go get those chemical manipulators) and tried everything I could but only got it to 47.

So what did I do wrong?

Do I need to go back and grind for the materials again and see if I can get a better jump range? The tally bar on the jump range couldn't possibly go any higher, any roll I would take would decrease my jump range and I still didn't get a good roll so is that my maximum?

Cheers in advance. I'm rather annoyed at this as my mate has 55LY jump ranges with point defences and hardpoints.

You'll need to post your setup (Coriolis or EDShipyard) before we can make any clear suggestions about what to improve.

Well, what ship is it?

If it's an Asp, it's already pretty good. if it's a Conda, then sure, you'll need to give your outfitting. But basically I can tell you that in order to get higher jump ranges, you need to heavily downclass your modules and juggle mods around. Downclassing the distributor, the power plant, and the thrusters will help a lot.

You can check my Asp's outfitting on Inara

I wouldn't think your friend has too many at that range.

The only thing to look at is Optimized Mass % increase to evaluate if you have a good roll.

The original ship range roughly times the Mod roll % improvement should be close to your new range.

Anything over 50% increase to Optimized Mass is excellent - of course the higher the better, but I think the upper bound is around 55%

So if you have a base speced Conda at 40LY you can get near 60 LY - but that isn't going to be carrying a lot of gear.

i have my asp at 49 and my annie at 43. a reasonable compromise between range and performance for me and im not seeking to squeeze any more out of them

The best upgrade on FSD comes in at around 55% +/- a bit for secondary effects like fuel use per jump and stuff. Work out from your base range using https://coriolis.io or whatever the latest one of those is.

My FDL only gets 17ly with 15 rolls at farseer... But there is a reason for that. (Yeah ok bit sarcastic but I try to level it out with being helpful in the first line ;))
