General / Off-Topic Argh! What is that game called?!

I'm trying to remember the name of a game I played as a boy (think I only had a demo). It was on the PC and was in the 80s, or early 90s. It was one of these turned base strategy games. It was set in the future I think, and was set on some sort of moon with craters. You could only move your tank, or soldier in one step, and it was kind of a diagonal movement as it was set to some sort of hexagon-like grid. The view was top-down. Combat would occur when your move fell next to the space of an enemy. This would trigger a scene where your tanks fired at the enemy tanks, and some would get destroyed, or in a good move, all would get destroyed. It all looked basic. The way you would win is by positioning one of your troops (not a tank) onto the space where the door of the base was, and this would trigger a cut-scene where you'd see the metal door from the inside get laser-cut open, which then fell away to show the silouette of the troop.

Does anyone out there have any idea what game I'm trying to describe here???

I'm searching the net but to no avail!

Total guess as I didn't play it myself - Battle Isle? http://www.abandonwaredos.com/abandonware-game.php?abandonware=Battle+isle&gid=1502

Looks like the expansion was set on a moon - http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/362/battle+isle+93+-+the+moon+of+chromos.html

Thank you! :D My mind is now at peace.

No worries, glad I could help. 'Name that Game' was a fun challenge, if only my Elite puzzle solving skills were as good hehe :D

Hope you both enjoy reliving some memories via Dosbox!

Do you meant the treasure hunting challenges? I resolved all of em when i cared to take a look. Easy peasy, but i coud not care any less to claim the revard. What i intrested in, is the mental challenge. :D

I read about this game a lot around the time i got my c64 in the computer magazines, but never played with it. Well, maybe i trying it out with dosbox.

It was a great little game at the time. I was quite young to fully understand it all, but it was good fun! Lol, the domed trucks I remember always being super weak lol!

I was thinking more of the 'codebreaker' puzzles - UA and UP signals, the ruins, the satellite codes...I really like the ideas but I'm just not very good at them :( Didn't bother much with the treasure hunts, by the time I even heard about most of them they were already solved!

Since i had no Amiga or Pc on that time, i can't know that! :) Hell! I played in my c64 with elite so much his transformer simply melted down. :p
getting back to machines like Amiga or PC. you cannot had any access to those in east europe in the 80's and early 90's! They were counted as hi tech and was on import ban list, in the whole soviet block. :D
