Engineers Specialized Legacy Firmware Found!

So I was on my way to my powers capitol, Chelomey Orbital in Cubeo, and I saw 2 new things since last I was here (aka before the new updates). One was that there is a HUGE warship dock (sick) and second there are these satellites hanging around. I was curious about the satellites because they were target-able, so I scanned one and VOILA, Specialized Legacy Firmware(SLF). I have scanned them 3 times, once gave me some Atypical Encryption Archives and the other 2 times gave me the SLF. I think it is safe to say this might also be a thing at the other capitals for the large powers, so if anyone finds out before I make my way to them, feel free to let me know.

I hope this helps all those who are having trouble finding them!

Are the satellites right there at the station? Or are these USS you find in SC?

They are right next to the station once you drop out of SC.

Nice. I was there the other day but didnt target them, guess next time I should.
I also find them at unguarded + outposts on planets for 3 data point scans.

I found a random similar installation (alas can't rememeber where but it was within 15Ly of Shinrarta) that had a new [Military Installation] target next door to the [Nav Beacon]
That had 2 Satellites which you could just relog, rescan, rinse & repeat.... gave some types of data materials like codes / firmware

Excuse me, but SLF is a very common mission reward. Is RNG god really so brutal?

Okay I'm there now and don't see any satellites visually or in the Contacts panel.

On first arrival there was no warship dock, just the station. I docked and left.
Came back a second time and the game crashed exiting SC. Never had that before!
Reloaded and I was parked near the station and now the warship dock was there, but no satellites.
Tried several relogs and still no satellites, only the warship dock.

:S

Edit: okay relogged into Solo this time and now there are 3 satellites. Relog in Open, no satellites again. Solo again, only 2 sats. Open again, still none. Etc. Only get sats in Solo, and the number varies. Never get in Open. Wth?? Bug rep time..., again... [knocked out]

Edit2: okay finally got them in Open. It's very random whether the satellites spawn at all.

RNG god is a ****.

I had never found the SLF until seeing this thread mention the satellites (I'd never seen the satellites, either!). Now, the only place I ever find SLF is from satellites, when I can find them.

Yes. It's one of the rarest materials/data for me, I find plenty of the other firmwares but almost never get SLF.

As always - it's not so rare as a result of Low Security planetary bases DAPs scan-runs (more then 0.5 seeds/base ratio)- however I'm not sure that this is the most efficient way=)

Data points at surface bases, that's where I find them regularly. Just spend an afternoon doing +, ++, low and med security bases. Much data to be found there.

Found the military installation again last night.... its closest system to Shinrarta ... LHS 926... its next to the nav beacon ... drop in there, throttle back and scan the 2x satellites.... log out / in and repeat.
Specialized Legacy Firmware is the only firmware i've received from them so far (no MEF/MCF)

Thank you! Just tried this, mainly got SLF from one satellite + another data material from the other each time (eg Unexpected Emission Data, Atypical Encryption Archives). No other firmware though. By the way, it's LFT 926.

Would have loved to know that a military installation was off limits before I boosted in to look at it. Never had time to get out before they blasted me away...

I regularly get 2 Specialised Legacy Firmware, from one of the 3 satellites around the civilian installation in the Ngalkin system

If there is cargo floating around they attack me, if not then they don't - just tell me to move along.
