Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

had the same idea a few days back, I have no clue if anything came out of that, lost track:

Yep...it was you that got me looking at this. It's just been long enough since I started trying to figure this out that I'd forgotten who posted it originally :)

Now things are a bit more quiet on the puzzle front others might give this another look.

I think the SRV fuel consumption thing is a bug, however, I can assure you that it does happen. I have experienced it at both the alien ruins, and at the 3rd alien crash site (and I'm not suggesting they are related).

At the crash site it happened about 2 minutes after I got into my SRV, there is just no way I could burn half a tank of fuel in that time.

I was one of the CMDRs who looked at SRV fuel consumption in the ruins a while back and didn't see any change. However you raise a good point so let's see if we can get this one closed off once and for all.

I believe that if the ruins are sucking energy out of our SRVs then that will result in a significantly increased fuel consumption rate on your SRV display. Now that does change anyway depending on what you are doing, so you have to be careful how you measure this, and get a baseline outside of the ruins. Can we get folks who are at the ruins checking their SRV fuel consumption display to see if there are any unexplained anomalies?

Either FD are messing with us or there's a puzzle encoded in the light of the ancient relic:

https://youtu.be/FnWfe0M9D6w

The video is a debug cam shot where the camera is inside the relic, and then video enhanced using VLC with hue/brightness all the way down and contrast all the way up.

Does anyone know a quick way to figure out if a video like this has a repeating pattern? Going frame by frame is an exercise in terminal boredom.

My original video has a bit over 9 minutes worth, but I've spent a few days transcribing size changes and only covered around 25 seconds worth of it :) It never goes above 12 frame increases/decreases in a row, and occasionally has a few frames in a row where there's no change. It could just be random light to make the thing look cool, but we should check thoroughly.

I think Cdr Speedmats did a conversion of visual to waveform. I asked what process he used for that as it could well be a useful technique in future puzzles but he didn't respond.

I've had precisely zero luck finding tools for analyzing something like this in a video file. Audio puzzles are so much easier to investigate.

Oops my bad. I took it into Adobe Premier. I'll find out the exact option I used shortly and will update this post.

Edit: I used the Waveform monitor, instructions available in the Galatic historical knowledgbase http://adobe.ly/2fMcsAS

Finally arrived at the ruins.

Observations - It seems the obelisks are proximity based, right?

Have we tried parking an SRV in front of each one (ten in total) ? I also have a feeling the weird artifacts are to be left in various places to possibly complete or activate a circuit.

First page: Abandoned Research Facility 5592 is what you are after.

Haven't seen a lot extra about it apart from my own findings about the base telescope, which may or may not be looking at the star they might have received the signal from.

So I flew 2,500 LY to get back to the abandoned outpost, just to find out you can only scan all the logs once, thanks FD

Also, Reserach Outpost

has anyone tried using the D-Scanner on another probe or an Artifact near the Ruins?

From what I have Read it was a D-Scan at 50m that activated the Probe that Talked.
It gave off an EMP like Blast.
It might have a similar effect at the ruins?

I am the one who honked at the Probe for the first time ;)
From then, I'm honking at everything, just to be sure... for science... ;)

In case someone missed it: once you scan the navigation beacon in the outpost, you'll get navigation data, which can be sold at any station for a hefty sum (I got around 140k for data from Orion's Folly)

New guy here, but really interested in the lore and mysteries here.

Have anyone checked if the sound signal changes if you shoot at the beams with engineered weapons? (Healing beam etc)?

I thought this tried it. The problem is it's hard to be accurate when you drop the items.
There isn't really an OBVIOUS place to put them.
I spent about 3 hours with different combinations but nothing happened.
