The only other thing i can think of is if there needs ot be some form of celestial alignment.

Most ancient earth cultures used this, but how this one would i dont know, either that or the Ariel view means nothing and its all in the pillars

Oops my bad. I took it into Adobe Premier. I'll find out the exact option I used shortly and will update this post.

Edit: I used the Waveform monitor, instructions available in the Galatic historical knowledgbase http://adobe.ly/2fMcsAS

I'm notfamiliar with that tool. Are there any freeware equivalents?

This would make sense but it can't be the case. Jettisoning cargo is far too inaccurate.

Depends how accurately placed it has to be!
I remember someone saying within the last couple of days that when jettisoned from SRV these objects stand vertically rather than falling down like other objects, so this object placement is quite likely in solving the puzzle IMHO

Have FD been lazy or has Orion´s Folly been left just recently? That would explain why there´s still vegetable growing in the greenhouses.

Screenie taken from inside, the lowest tube carries plants only a few days old. Maybe just , but anyway.

Well spotted!

Just had a look with a 3D spectrogram, with the audio filtered at 7.5KHz, since the info we're interested in is higher than that. The plot doesn't really show anything beyond what you see with the 2D version.

Than it should repeat. Maybe at specific times of the planet rotation. How long is a day there?

Did we ever find this outpost?

I don’t believe so, but I think we need to:

“I’ve spent years looking up at the planet we were meant to land on, we were never meant to be on this rock and it taunts me every day. No one can imagine the frustration of waking up every day and seeing that distant blue ball in the sky, hanging there as a monument to our screw up.”

The trailer showed a base on a planet orbiting a blue-white star, a “distant blue ball in the sky”. I’m betting that the survivor who escaped from Orion’s Folly did indeed manage to get to their destination system, and this shot in the trailer most likely shows where he ended up. Our missing ELW is probably there too.
