Engineers By god what did they do to Elite....

Longer i play the more problems i find. Windowed borderless is a god send for people who like have media open such as music or movie playing (because otherwise id get bored playing a game) or for those who stream.... but now anytime i click out im gambling because might lock up making me kill the process.

Why is the main game effected so much when trying to exchange with the servers when majority of it is client side to begin with. Is there going to be a big fanfare whenever you all get around to 4.2 "We fixed the issues from 2015".

The transitions should be seamless.... even for those who have it loaded onto a HDD. Im also noticing that the CPU will spike to 100% which will freeze the game and cause the frame to hang permanently while everything else proceeds.

None of this happened in the past. Or if it did, very seldom and it was OBS that crashed due to a bug. Now its like every ten minutes

Dunno what's up but I've had more crashes in the past month than in the previous two years combined.

Funny you mention window borderless. It used to kill my framerate. I just checked recently after 2.2 because it wanted to use some software that requires borderless, and hey presto, working super now.

I guess a lot of it very much depends on your specific hardware and drivers.

May very well be. I'm quite ignorant as to the tech details of these machines.

To be honest, while Elite does have more than its fair share of bugs right now, everything you've mentioned sounds more like issues specific to your rig.

Seeing lockups in windowed mode and CPU spikes isn't usual at all. The game generally uses 15-30% of your CPU with "spikes" into the low 40s. Might be worth installing afterburner (or your preferred app) to monitor cpu/gpu temps and checkout any running processes that could be interfering with the game.

The not so seamless transitions is network related though as the game is looking to match your instance to wings/friends/people geographically matched etc... in particularly busy areas this can literally take minutes spent dropping out of supercruise and has definately gotten worse lately. You can negate this somewhat by running in solo.

It only happens when in border less. Runing OBS only adds a 10% load to the CPU at the most. After the latest update the CPU usage went down to normal levels, so idk if i will still have a problem later on. Wont know until i play again.

But it was the game that was hogging the CPU.
