Horizons Deploying ground crew, where are they?

When I land the tower often says they are deploying the ground crew. Where are they?

Adding a few boilerplate humans as ground crew would be so nice, even if repetitive. It would certainly add some scale perspective to the game. I know adding people has been beat to death but with all the new additions the missing people are even more pronounced.

Every time they say the ground crew is coming I have to say "Liar!" lol.

For scale you've got the wheeled vehicles that go back and forth over the central highway. The ones I nearly always clip when I forget I'm in the Conda.

Too little too far away from the ships and there's no one in them. If they say ground crew is coming out, then send them out already. Maybe at least one person doing that torch wavy thing guiding our ship in would be nice. Or, at least someone in the tower. People FD, we need NPC people!!!!!!

Well hang on a minute. They can't do the torch wavy thing guiding the ship because you've already landed and latched by the time you get that 'ground crew' message. Besides I don't know what the ground crew are going to do. I activate refuel, repair, rearm and restock - so there's nothing left for them to do. But people in the tower - that is a great idea. Get rid of the 'ground crew' message and put people in the tower. random animations : waving hello, running scared, half interested, gesticulating wildly, picking their noses, arguing with each other. And easy to implement. And as you say - big win for immersion.

Having seen some of the videos from Planet Coaster that David has been tweeting, I'd love to see some of the crowds from that integrated into Elite. It would be amazing to see people milling around in the dock (especially in the new Tourist environment), or inside the parks and gardens in the big ring stations...

It would be kind of nice to see some "ground crew" if for no other reason that immersion. It has always struck me as kind of odd that when I am doing trade runs that it looks like the landing area was never touched. I mean come on 200t of cargo does not just magically go from my cargo hold to the station.

Yes. would be nice.

How about someone that sticks a speeding ticket to your windscreen for speeding into the spacestation.
no bad idea. made me laugh thinking about it

haha me too, nice idea.

On second thought...

My AspX would look like a flying office recycling bin if this comes to fruition.

Having humans in view would be a nice sprinkle on the donut though.

Sometimes I wonder if I'd just dreamt the whole thing, but I swear that at some point they added little black silhouettes of people in the control tower windows. They looked like cardboard cutouts that you'd use to scare off burglars Home Alone-style, and then they vanished again. These days I'm not sure if it ever actually happened.

The ground crew is downstairs waiting eh

When we get legs, the NPCs will follow eventually i think.

Back to the subj. of post - adding people to landing pad - its a very good idea.
As a continue this idea: I think about that conception that our crew member do not leaving our ship for piloting fighter - why he(she) can't sit in chair of second pilot and piloting via 'neuro interface'? I don't think that to add an NPC model in chair is much harder then add a bobbleheads on console panel...
another question - For what fighter with cockpit then? why not using just drones? Or - if we talking about fighter piloting by human - why we talking about neuro controlling fighetrs and SRV (in SRV we can see a sitting pilot figure)?
I think someone in Dev's team something mess. I think its time to make a decision - real men sitting in SRV/fighter or these SRV/fighetrs is just a drones. If pilot is realy sit inside - let em die when fighter shot down, if not - remove that nice human model from SRV.
Agan - adding an NPC models in inner interior of dock/cockpit - is a realy good idea.

Lets wait for 2.3. It will give us commander avatars, most likely customizable suits as well and they need to be animation rigged to fullfil their MultiCrew purpose. I say, that 2.3 will bring the needed technology into the game. We are closer to the OPs wish than most people think.

Multi-Crew is not the same thing was FPV. 2.3 is advertised as the addition of Multi-Crew. Meaning that more then one person can be in the same ship performing a role on that ship. It does not mean we will get fully articulated bodies and the ability to move around within or outside our current vehicles. That will likely not happen until Season 3 or 4.
