"Official" Elite HOTAS hardware?

Anyone heard anything on "Official" Elite HOTAS hardware?

Loving my Saitek X52pro but, would love to see some official hardware tailor made for Elite. If I could get to analog rotary dials on the X52pro to work in Elite (besides on/off) I'd be ok.

As it is, I'd buy an ED HOTAS system. Maybe a bundle deal in the works?

One can wish, no?

since Elite (and SC as well) is a Niche market INSIDE a Niche Market. asking for a Game specific HOTAS isn't going to be met well. it takes years and millions of Dollars to design and tool up a factory line to produce a single item.

AS much as I know some would love a specific designed HOTAS for the game, there isn't enough demand (in my opinion) for any of the HOTAS makers to seriously entertain the idea. at best you would get a Off the shelf HOTAS with a few stickers on it.

I actually didn't like writing this post as it makes me sound like a downer.

Aww... we can just wait and see... If this game turns out as epic as I hope it will - we could see custom peripherals in the future.

After all - you can buy a WOW keyboard now :)

Got ya. Your correct.

But, I should have specified something like say an X52pro reworked a bit at the factory. Maybe different color plastic, digital rotary, ED specific profiles and that sort of thing. Starting from scratch, like you've said, would take as much or more money than ED itself and the lead time would be much longer ;)

Nothing has been announced.

But if they teamed up with Thrustmaster and produced a Warthog with Elite livery for a reasonable price, for me at least it would be a case of shut up and take my money. It doesn't need to be new hardware design, just some spiffy stickers and a perfectly worted out software interface.

So, hurry up Frontier and take my money.

Well, I can tell you what we used at E3 to demo the game

At E3 in the Elite Dangerous showroom we were using Saitek X52 HOTAS systems. They seem to work as well as anything with the game I have seen. Also David B. told me they had actually modeled the flight controls you see in the cockpits in game on the X52 since they liked it so much.

Though I still really love my Thrustmaster Warthog setup and Saitek combat rudder pedals with aluminum pedals.

I noticed that. Pretty cool. I love my x52pro, just needs a few upgrades and ED livery and I'd be set. :D

I'd buy one too, even with my current setup.

What if FD printed some stickers for specific joysticks, maybe with labels for buttons/switches? Might be a nice earner for them

Yes that would be nice. Or the community could work on making one themselves. Don't suppose that anyone has a cutout they can use for the X55 throttle as a starter?
