Horizons Glad I did passenger missions while they mattered.

The payouts were just too good to be true, so I knew the nerf was coming. I'm so glad I took advantage of those missions before they started looking like this...

Guess I can sell my passenger cabin now. What a joke.

Yep. I've stored my passenger compartments and re-fitted the cargo bays. Pity, as I was enjoying that role. But I can't afford the time to slog at the level of profit margins FD seem happy to force us to progress to the larger ships.

Are the first class ones as bad? I mean, I can understand the povs and peons and riffraff in economy not paying much, is it as bad if you're transporting the gentry?

I stored my modules too. Was doing them just fine with a Python with two 6 First Class cabins and two 5 First Class cabins. Did 4 missions at a time (those that paid around or close to 1 million) or sometimes one of those missions that took me 1 hour to do (multiple systems to visit visitor beacon) and made around 10 million per hour which to me was fine after playing for 2 years. (not logging in and out to see if better missions came, just did the ones I got)

Before passenger missions or 2.2 in 2.1, I was making around 5 million credits or so per hour with boom time delivery missions. I'm in a boom system so the payments were good and since I've been there for more than a year my reputation with all those systems is great and can make missions in and out of my home system.

Now all that was ruined for me. It feels like I did nothing, lost all my progress and now can't get the rank I was "building" at the pace I felt was right for the first time in 2 years. (a mere 2% per hour...)

Not much difference, u can earn more from the mission board than passenger missions

And that's the problem that's proving so difficult to resolve. I'm in the same boat - I want to progress (have an AspE and Vulture plus about 14M cr) but need to do so at a rate in line with the time I have available. The ED economy model should not attempt to emulate the real life one because the supply/demand is completely different. No one irl would own and operate those big ships - the guy with the millions at Virgin Atlantic or Pickfords is not the pilots, it's the chap who owns the company and fleet. ED needs us to fly single ships so it needs a model that allows a player to get to that point in a reasonable timeframe.

There's a thread here today from a guy who's put a load of effort into his new game, and currently has 14k. How long before he loses heart?

yes this....i get maybe 1 hour a day, have been playing since beta and still cant afford a python let alone a conda, thought theses passenger missions were the way there.
Now they are pony and trap.

Lol 4 million got travelling 25k ly? No one in their right mind could possibly think that is justified.

Ridiculous. I personally wouldn't consider taking on a job like that for anything less than 40 million. Jumping over and over again is not my idea of fun, or worth just 4mil.

With the exception of some Noob who posted a thread complaining about the Passenger Missions paying too much, I really don't recall the community having a problem with the previous payouts. If anything they were borderline too low for some of those 30,000 Ly+ versions.

I don't want to believe that Frontier caved to some clueless post by an individual who obviously hasn't played ED long enough to have an "informed" opinion on any of this, but I do find it curious that less than a week after that thread appeared, we get this! [wacky] [wacko]

Its all a real shame. 2.2 began with such promise, and the devs seemed like they were truly interested in participating in the discussion. But since the actual release, they have gone back behind their stone wall, and we are seeing all the cool things we helped test in the 2.2 Beta slowly disappear, one piece at a time. With this latest debacle, 2.2 has gone from one of the best ED updates yet, to just another slow motion train wreck.

Yep.... A real shame. [sad]

Feels like the game is back to normal now. For awhile, it seemed pointless to do anything BUT passenger missions, as nothing else paid anything. Now I've parked my keelback and am back to flying my python. I may smack a grd 5 1st class cabin in it just to pick up the odd passenger mission if it's to a system where IO'm already going. We'll see.

Sold my Orca. Bought an FdL. Off to cat hunt. Woof. ;)

*sigh* - I bought a Beluga, fitted it out at around class D plus some cabins, was getting too broke for comfort, picked up 2 passengers. Jumped to my first destination *BOOM* headshot.
Instakill. I liked that ship too. Lucky I saved enough for insurance. Did a few more passenger missions, searching half the galaxy for 'lost' visitor beacons. Managed to save up to upgrade
my FSD. Yay ! Log back in to find ELITE passenger mission $15k, what, really ? So if I do 1000 of those, I'll make back my investment give or take. Not that I'll ever get my time back grinding
out all the engineering components to upgrade my FSD to provide better service, my shield to try not to take hull damage when I get attacked on every leg of an adventure mission, my guns because sometimes I want to fight back after flying 200 000Ls to your backwater POI and don't feel like high waking to get away and then have to do it all over again.

Yep, it was fun, but the fun's over. Beluga's a nice ship and a lovely fly but just a liability now.

Yeah Sad all them Cr wasted. FYI if they buff the missions in future https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ur-Help-Commanders!?highlight=tourist+beacons

So...they nerfed the passenger missions too. I did a few of them while they were worth it, but stopped 'cause they did nothin' for my trader rank. Went out bounty hunting, waiting for long range smuggling and trading to be fixed (or so I hoped), and figured after I reach elite trader, I'd switch to passenger missions for makin' the big bucks. Guess that road got blocked too.

However, I noticed some well paid short range smuggling missions in the station I'm currently parked. Ain't got the time right now to check out my regular long range customers, but I'll do it tonight. If they boosted smuggling back up a tad, I may be back in business.

Well, put those engineered modules into storage, replace them with 'standard' items - I think you can with the core items too - and find other ships that use the same size units ... all that engineering therefore not wasted!

More? Yes.

Enough? Not even close.

I couldn't fit a luxury cabin, but I'd wager those are garbage now, too.
