Horizons Tourist and passenger Missions, back and re Buffed

Good news for those wanting the passenger missions re buffed, they're back and appear to be working just fine. Just completed a 3 stop Tourist mission for a criminal M/mind which paid 7.2 mill, and the mission updated correctly for all 3 beacons. Thx FD and devs nice job, I for one appreciate this, cheers [up]

Hey!

I just grabbed a 8.6 Million Sightseeing Mission! :D

The guy isn't a crook either, but a "Legendary Explorer". Four drops between 86 and 190 Ly each, which should be fine with my Conda Liner's 46 Ly jump range. :)

I also really like seeing the little GLOBE ICON listed on ALL the system's Navigation listings indicating where the Visitor Beacon is located, even in Unexplored systems! That is something I have not seen to date. Having done tons of these all through the Betas, it looks like these are not only rebuffed and additional navigational aids added in, but the remaining glitches with the Beacons being missing at later drops are FINALLY fixed! [up]

Definitely kudos to the FD Dev Team! Its nice that all this could be handled from the server side without the need for an additional client update. :)

8.6 mill Nice. I just took my 2nd tourist mission of the day for 9.6 mill and stacked a 2nd tourist for 500k who wanted to be secretive, on my return to drop them off I went to silent running lined up the slot, was doing 200 as I approach and what do I see a dam beluga coming out, I flip sideways to try and avoid it clipped it, the passengers went ballistic, Mission Failed no Credits :( 2hrs down the drain, oh well, least I can make it up now np.
Yes isn't it nice to have the passenger info updating correctly and the beacons showing in the nav panel they made xmas come early for me :D

Ok so if this is fine why all the bull "s" about transport runs??????? Is this any different to the long haul payouts. I call HYPOCRITE's on all of you who are yelling oh this is great while all other forms of money earning are still nerfed to hell, especially if you were one of the nerf sothis/ceos crowd. On principle i will not ever take on passenger missions other then the fact i detest and hate them with a passion. Whatever happened to play how you want hey? This is play how FD wants or die of old age before you can afford to re-arm your ship after 1 fight let alone buy a upgrade or a new ship. The more i think on this the angrier i am getting so i will stop here.

This indeed is good news.

Bummer! :(

That sucks that you got "Beluga'd" ;) Those things are a menace to navigation! [wacky]

Did you really have to go Silent Running? If I want to avoid a station scan, I just wait to ask for docking permission at about 6.5km or closer and then head in manually at about 150 or so speed, and drop to 100 at the slot itself. Since I use a Docking Computer, I then throttle to zero once inside the station and let the DC handle the rest of the landing.

I've been using that technique for years now and I have never been scanned by a space based station if my goal was to not get scanned. You can't control this nearly as well with planetary bases, but I would suggest trying my technique next time and see what you think. You definitely don't need to push 200+ to avoid a scan. I think the key is being closer to the station when you ask for docking permission. I have always suspected that this starts the scan clock countdown in some way.

Normally when I don't care about station scans, I let the DC handle the entire thing. I will often be up here on the forums while the DC is landing my ship for me. :)

Without a patch? If true, that is rather interesting.

server side update.

missions are generated on the server.

yes, very nice. I'm gonna combine scanning for the Cildren of Raxxla Community Goal with 3 exploration missions in the same general direction <1600 ly.

How can you have such a negative and emotional opinion on a mission type you have never done? That makes absolutely no sense. [wacko] Now that FD has finally gotten all the bugs out of these, they are really nicely done. I think everyone should at least try a couple of the sightseeing missions just to see how FD might eventually update all the missions to offer a little more polish and feedback.

As for the regular mission board offerings, I totally agree with you.

The regular missions definitely need the same level of attention and review that the passenger missions have just received. I alternate between both boards since I own four ships with only my Anaconda being dialed in for passenger mission work. So I actually spend more time with regular missions for the other three ships and the sharp contrast between the two boards is pretty significant at the moment.

I observed a few things with all missions tonight...

Salvage missions on the regular board appear to be paying more than they were a few days ago, and I grabbed several assassination missions tonight that each paid well over 1 million credits. The problem I see even more than the payouts themselves is the lack of consistency with certain mission types. Those assassination missions I mentioned were the only ones I saw at my station HQ the entire night. (3 total) I use to be able to cherry pick the highest paying versions from a steady stream of them. Now they are really rare.

The major factions at my home base (Solo Orbiter / Altair) is in a BOOM state right now, as is most of the other factions, so there should be a good supply of all of these mission types, especially Boom Deliveries, which I was not seeing much of, and the few I did see were paying chump change.

Hopefully FD isn't done with all this. Perhaps after readjusting the Passenger Missions they will see the stark contrast between those rebuffed versions and the regular mission board offerings. We should know better next week.

But in the meantime, I would chuck the emotional baggage over passenger missions and give them a try. Until FD does something about the regular mission offerings, passenger missions is the only place you are going to make any decent $$. ;)

Yeah earned 20 mil last night on two passenger missions and saw a single long range one (16kly round trip) for 36mil. Definitely un-nerfed. Thank you FD.

I have done them i gave em a go right from the start hated them. Sorry i must admit i didnt make that clr. What i meant was out of principle i am not going to forced into becoming a space bus driver just to get anywhere. As once before i was forced to become a long haul trucker just to get anywhere. Combat is what i luv and all i wanted to do but after 360 hrs play and nothing to show for it, found out about sothis 1 week before the nerf and have now experienced more of the game then i ever did before. Then wham rug taken out from under me yet again. I simply refuse to be drawn into something i hate just to make any decent money. All of us should have the choice to do as we wish and the payouts should be even if they really are serious about balance.

Sitting looking at a few to Colonia all paying over 20mill and giving 3 weeks to get there and back, One mission out to 26k paying over 50 mill, 16 mill to go out to nebula, only 6k away.

With the Neutron highways looks good to go. Now I'm tempted by the whole passenger thing again.

YAY!!!!!

oh btw, since I have no idea about anything in 2.2 what were they originally like and nerfed to?

Actually when they first released passenger missions they payed around what they do now, then within 1-2 weeks they got nerfed by about 60-80%

Agree completely frontier all your doing is killing the immersion for players who A dont want to do sight seeing and B Dont have enough time to do them, but hey keep on killing the game youll see...!!!

Thanks FD :)
Just taken a mission for CEO luxury passengers for a 3 stop sightseeing mission in the bubble - 22,903,376 cr.
To celebrate I've painted my Beluga 'AEDC Spruce Goose' vibrant 'Alliance' green.
Seems like they've especially buffed the luxury passenger missions making the Beluga and Orca more profitable for passenger missions.
