Horizons Waiting Time Records for Marco Qwent Invitation

Let's use this forum to send a message to FDev. The Marco Qwent invitation bug is rampant, and it's a major problem. It's mind-boggling that it can't be fixed. FDev owes us an apology, a real, sincere, company issued apology, for the dizzying array of time-wasting bugs this player community endures. We won't get it, but we deserve it.

In any event, we can have a little fun with this. To post a legitimate waiting time to see if you win the prize for the record, you'll have had to have reached Allied with the Sirius Corporation. This thread is for how long you had to wait, or are still waiting, for the Marco Qwent Invitation.

My wait time as of right now: 28 hours 20 minutes.

You mean the Qwent passport for Palin thing in order to get those indispensable L5 dirty drives scnario? Nah, not really bothered at the moment thank you. Dont want them, dont need them and plenty of other stuff to be getting on with thank you

you do know, that you need to get a engineer invitation mission from sirius corp, which they only hand out at mission boards in their system? like it is written in qwents description?

Yes, I know. I have the Sirius System Permit issued by Sirius Corporation (should have made that part of the record wait-time criteria), just haven't received the Marco Qwent invitation. There are many players with this problem, some waiting for days, some thinking they're solving it by logging in and out a bunch of times, making sure they cycle through Solo, then Private, then Open, then start over again. I think it's a known bug, in fact, but it's been going on for months.

Somebody from support might pop in here and suggest I open a ticket, which I did, but the wait time is four days, so I'm stuck with 25 Modular Terminals in my cargo, and can't really play with my friends on game night tonight since they're all about combat.

I also wonder if it might be a messaging problem, since every time I log in I get an incoming message for "Your Power Needs Your Help." I haven't received one of those since the cycle turn. Seems suspiciously related, maybe.

you don't get a message. you need to pick up a mission from a mission board in the sirius system. it has 3 stations with mission boards.

you do a mission to get the permit. you do a second mission in sirius system to get the invitation.

you wouldn't be the first one, who was waiting for a message (because other engineers work like that).

which is why relogging at a station is as good as flying between the three stations while waiting for the mission board to refresh.

OK, but the guys that were complaining about it were saying they were waiting for the invitation, when I guess it's possible they meant "Mission." In any event, logging in right now after seeing your suggestion is actually the first time I've seen the Mission for it, and I have been looking just to make sure I hadn't missed something, so I thank you kindly for that clarification.

This leaves me wondering...in what instructions does it tell us that's what needs to happen? Until this post, I had no way of knowing what to do, and I'd looked for an hour last night for an answer in forums and in-game Engineers Help.

Thanks again.

I got mine the first time I docked at a station in Sirius...

Have you had the 'real sincere company issued apology' yet then OP?

I think that its always a good idea to check mission boards every time you land. Liz Ryder is the same at Eurybia in that you have to be cordial in order to get the mission in order to get the invite. I noticed it was there on my mission board when delivering stuff but not available as i wasnt then cordial. And i generally check out on the boards before i do anything unfamiliar as i tend towards muppetry.

Anyway, you had a good rant and got it off your chest and life now goes on :)

i think, the problem with qwendt is

a) a lot of people had a bug with receiving the permit. therefore if things don't work like you assume they work, you assume a bug (quite understandable at,)

b) i knew the procedure from getting permits... where you also have to run a permit granting "invitation"-mission. but qwendt is the first engineer for many with that procedure, and many only got permits till then via navy ranking.

i think it would be neat, if the game would send you a message after you received the permit for sirius .... something like "hey, here is marco qwendt. sirius corporation have a mission for you on one of their missions board in the sirius system - after that my location will be added to your galaxy map."

Yes. Quite. What with my exploration ship the Pourquoi Pas? being so heavily upgraded that it is probably the best-armed 50 Light-year-capable ship in the Galaxy, t3h Mmarko Quenndt Power Plant and Power Distributor upgrades are really a must-have for me, especially with the prospect of unlocking Professeur Pailin and his Corrosion Resistant Catgo Racks, in spite of the fact that Marcus Kwondt is such an arrogant corporate tool to deal with.

So after months of trying to get the Sirius Permit by doing missions for Sirius Corp. whenever I was in the Bubble and could be bothered, and finding that the missions give you practically no reputation increase, and that the Skimmer missions are bugged, and that the Liberate Hostage missions have so many hoops to jump through that even if they are doable it's not worth the effort no matter for what reward, and then when you fail them you lose what little rep you gained in the doable missions, and then after all the personal abuse on the forums I endured for criticizing the bugged undoable state of the missions system... finally I worked out that all you have to do is attack WANTED NPCs at the Avik Navigation Beacon, and then cashing in the Bounties boosts your rep in giant leaps and bounds, rendering missions completely irrelevant for gaining reputation. Then I got the Sirius Permit in a couple of days.

No one told me anything about any of this beforehand of course, because there's no instruction manual, and you're supposed to pretend the game is more fun without an instruction manual.

So now I'm at Sirius. I've been to Patterson Enterprise. I've been on the Mission Board. Now I'm at Eremov Plant. Been on the Mission Board there. No Invitation Mission. So 2 hours and counting.

I did this literally last night. Got the invite from Martuk, (already had the sirius permit - I'd dumped a load of explo data on them way back), toddled over to Sirius, docked at the big station (Patterson?) checked the mission boards and there it was. I'm currently collecting the 25 modular terminals Qwent wants as a donation.

Only slightly related, but I do remember on the Beta server that I needed to leave the Sirius system and come back in again to get Qwent's market to activate - maybe try that fly in and out of Sirius, see if it kicks a flag somewhere.

Not even close, 6 weeks.

I don't believe anyone now. I don't believe the invitation mission even exists, not after 48 hours, not after 6 weeks. I think it's a wind-up. I defy anyone to post an actual screenshot of the actual invitation mission listed on the actual mission board.

14 hours and counting.

Either at patterson dock or one of the surrounding sirius systems, which is where i found it. You may have to hunt around for it but if you satisfy the conditions it will be there for you

You're not listening. People satisfy the conditions. They go to Patterson Dock. They go to the O'Brien Vision Outpost. The other one on Lucifer. They mess around for weeks sometimes going between the three, switching between Open and Solo, logging out and back in again. No invite mission. Apparently it does exist, someone posted this screenshot on another forum:

But it could have been faked.

20 hours and counting. FD can we have an Assassinate Merko Qwunt Mission please?
