What does "season pass" mean for Horizons? Does it mean it is a yearly subscription?
I for one really hate this nomenclature (From its earliest implementations in many other products) it's pure consumerist-driven marketing bull.
It alludes to things that really aren't at all represented by the phrasiology. How is "Horizons" a 'season'? It's not aperiod of time, it's a product. The product may evolve over a duration (ewith what they term 'expansions', but this is just more confusing redefinition of existing concepts.
In the past, you would license a base game, then license Expansions separtely (at cost) - by changing the definition to suit, FD (and they aren't alone in this so I am not entirely laying any fault upon them for needing to manitain a competitive viabiltiy) are implanting the suggestion that you now get multiple Expansions by purchasing ONE "season"
Really, the "Season" is the Expansion pack, and it's drip fed.

Like the words "Pre-Order" - sure everyone understands the concept of paying in advance to ensure you get a copy, and it can be worthwhile if you are flush well in advance - but why are there 'pre orders' on digital versions? Servers do not have limited copies (yes license keys may be limited by millions but support techs can easily arrange for any problems there to be sorted swiftly) on shelves that will sell out.
Besides "Pre-Order" actually literally defines a prior order. Just an order, not a purchase. Why has it become so acceptable to charge full cost (I know there are meagre discounts 'pre-order bonus' - I am more referring to the fact that placing an order for something in conventional 'old fashioned' shopping would require at most a nominal charge for the administration of such).
Yeah I'm old fashioned and ranting a little, but it irks me that the rampant consumerist mindset is such that kids are growing up with the notion that this is the norm and blindly accepting these things. The power of the CUSTOMER (not to be a consumer) is so eroded and although this is intended and enforced by the 'system', customers should really take a stand against it rather than submitting and letting the market dictate to the end user. Maybe it is too late. Oh go on, sell me a new iThing, my old one is a month out of date...
If you think of it as winter, spring, summer and autumn it doesn't make sense, but if you think of it as a season of a series (like it's meant) it does.
No, well not in the traditional sense. It's a season of content, horizons is season 2 (it does require you to have season 1/base game).
Once you've brought it you will always have access to that content even when season 3,4,5... are released.
Any future seasons will have to be purchased but they're optional. For example, if you choose not to buy season 3 (the next season), you can still play season 1and 2, you'd just miss out on whatever new features were added.
You miss the point. It's still trying to make you think you are paying for "a season of expansions" and getting a better deal than paying for AN expansion drip-fed.
