Hardware & Technical £1000 what pc should i get?

Quickly looking, this is what I come up with below:

I spent a little more. You could reduce the cost by buying cheaper graphics card, cpu and mobo and HDD.

HOWEVER, I would advise against this. This build will last you a while, has some some upgradeability e.g. can buy extra 2 x dual channel ram, can pick up 1080Ti in a few years. If anything I'd be tempted to buy the gaming 7 motherboard which will allow you to upgrade to Dual M.2 in a RAID array - which is what I went for.

I may have forgotten DVD drive, but these are very cheap.

I guess it comes down to whether you're confident enough to build it yourself, to be honest it's pretty much like Lego these days as long as you have some basic technical knowledge, we'll try and help if you get stuck.

It might be worth waiting until Friday to see of Scan knock a big chunk off the 1070 or even Intel CPU. You can make a mix of what we've suggested depending on the final amount you're happy to spend. For example I put a cheaper Solid State Hybrid Drive, it's not as fast as an SSD but it's decent for a Gaming machine, I've used one and it improved loading times quite a bit over standard HDD but of course not as much as a full on Solid State Drive.

As for Motherboard, Evoflash gives some good advice too. I have an MSI gaming board myself in the main PC and it's a nice bit of kit, one of the reasons I recommended it, but everyone is going to be a little biased towards their own (like how I'm keen on building with Corsair, I love how their cases go together and Hydro Coolers)

You could put together your own quote and post it up for idea's. Check other sites like eBuyer/Overclockers as they might have some parts cheaper, you don't need to buy it all from the same place! (unless you want it built like the Novatech one)

Good luck and keep us posted.

i would prefer to get one built due to my lack of knowledge fitzsteve..overall i am going to wait till Friday and use the parts guides you fellas put up and see what i come up with

I would not use a "water" cooler. Air cooling will be way more efficient and with one less point of failure (pump). Liquid cooling is useful if you have a proper cold water chiller circuit (read: if you don't run a laboratory or datacenter, it's not), but for normal home use it doesn't have any advantages.

Horses for courses.

I used to run an air cooler (Thermalright Trueblack 120) in my old PC, but I wasn't happy with the load being put into the motherboard due to its considerable weight (one heck of a bending moment). In the end I put this in my new build, very happy. PC tidier, temps low, Prime95 lovely.

Where about's are you based? Maybe someone can help you build it :)

You get much better Airflow in the case without a nasty huge Air cooler in there but you are right about pump failing I had that on my H80, I had to put the stock Intel Cooler back on for a while which looked so out of place in the case lol.

They do come with a guarantee but unfortunately mine was out of warranty when it went, there was no damage as the Motherboard will shut the PC off in the event of temperatures going too high.

Also the do look the business through the viewing window, be the envy of all your friends with their HP and Compaq PC's lol.

Here I put a quote together on Scan.co.uk, again you can shop around but it will give you an idea, that lot came to £1013 and includes an upgraded cooler for the CPU, semi modular PSU and GTX1070. I think you might find a deal on Friday for a 1070, maybe saving about £50 so keep your eyes open :)

Just remove the .jpg extension and it will take you to the page.

Bit stumped in that case, last thing I can think is try right-click, "save as"? Failing that review this evening at home :(

tried that Evoflash it didn't work..i think it is due to it being dropbox content

Hi Mate, it was a screen grab so I can't link the cart, here are the item numbers you can put them into the search bar at scan.co.uk

LN54398 (PSU - Corsair CS650M) - £74.99
LN62104 (Case - Corsair Carbide 100R) - £44.99
LN65568 (CPU - Intel i5 6500) - £199.49
LN69019 (Memory - 16gb Corsair DDR4) £104.48
LN72520 (CPU Cooler - Corsair Hydro H45) - £44.99 (This is optional as the CPU comes with a basic cooler, however this solution really completes the project!)
LN73060 (Motherboard - MSI B150M Gaming Pro) - £67.49
LN74316 (1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive) - £77.48
LN74770 (Graphics Card - GTX1070 EVGA) - £399.98

Hope that helps :)

Very nice - agree about the PSU tho.

Yeah cheap PSU's can be a pain, I bought a Coolermaster case with 500w PSU for a spare PC build from eBuyer, I cooked the PSU with a GTX580 and they would not exchange just the PSU so I had to send the whole case back which meant disassembling the whole PC, I wasn't impressed.

I'm not even sure the 1070 will be ok on 500w, I mean they must be on the edge of what it needs power wise. I'd like to have seen a decent branded 650w+ in that spec of PC. It does have 3 years warranty, but it might mean returning the whole thing...
