Sag A* trip, How much was your data worth?

I just returned from a trip to Sag A*, 50kly round trip. Honking all the way there and back. The data was 14 mill CR. The game crashed right after it supposedly finished paying off.

I remember collecting 6 mill+ CR for 10k for Palin. The Sag trip seems a little light. What have payouts been for others?

I received a 500k payout for just scanning some systems (only honking) along the way for some tourist missions (300ly max). Then on a 1000ly trip I only scored like 200k. I've seen the charts that uers made, but it seems there is very little logic to the payouts.

Right now I am doing a 60k run with two tourist contracts making a side-stop at SagA and have already scanned 500 systems to my first destination (Neutron Nebbula, wow, gourgeous, must see!) with tons of water and amonia worlds, but only one earth like in all those scans. So I'm anxious to see what the payout will be when I get back. I know my name is going on at least 100+ waterworlds and one earth-like. Some bozos beat me to all the neutron stars I found though :)))

I just got 10mil jonking from Colonia. Around 850 systems with a handful of DSS's...less than 10 for sure.
I think it was 24,000ly ish but really its the system count. You may have a bigger jump range than me and therefore not double the jumps despite double the diatance

my last beagle point roundtrip, on which i was 99% only honking, gave me 46 millions. Thats for roughly 170000 LYs. If youre only Honking, there are two things to consider:

1. Higher Range = Less amount of Systems per KLY = Less Money
2. Your Luck to jump through systems with many objects (more objects = more basic payments)

You get more money for detail scanning, but that takes a lot more time. My Conclusion: Exploration is not a good way to earn money easily, except if you dont do it for the money ;)

My trip was 1k+ worth of jumps at 47ly jump range. I wasn't doing it for the CR, I'm OK on that issue. Just seems that 5 times the distance of the Palin run would have given a more than 2x's the payout. My concern was the crash right as it finished. I put in a bug report and said that I would live with whatever answer they gave me.

The trip was just a personal challenge. The next one will be to Colonia, but I will stay there for some time. This showed me I do not want to do lux passenger missions at all.

Thank you all for the replies.

I am lucky I have a 16.55ly Jump range Max 17.95. Even if I had a 40+ Ly jump range I like to keep it low for higher credit amount.

When we first found Jaques I buckyballed it there and then spent some time scanning systems around it. Especially the neutron field. Then headed to Sag A* and headed home after. That yielded just over 30mil. I'm back at Colonia and this time I took my time getting there and indulged in all the shinies. Only got 4mil when I sold at Jaques. Felt like it should have been more.

We know mission rewards are broken right now, and FD has acknowledged this. Not sure if it's affecting scan rewards or not. Could have just been me. I did scan a lot of black holes and more neutron stars around the core the first time round.

I went there earlier this year.
Scanned a lot on the way out and honked all the way back.
Made just shy of 50mil :)

160m Cr for a trip to Jaques ~ 2500 system scans (~60,000 Cr / system) I hit a Neutron field, also did a lot of planetary scanning. LOTS. Hunted terraformable worlds, checked out gas giants. Took me a long time.

50m Cr for first Jaunt around Jaques, 1448 systems scanned (65,000 Cr/ system), lots of neutrons, reduced planetary scanning (started to ignore gas giants)

37.1m Cr for second jaunt, 982 systems same as previous, 55,000 Cr / system.

Arced around back of Sag A, and now headed to the bubble, currently got 2311 systems scanned. Hit a lot of neutrons early on, but the whole landing-in-a-flare made me KGBFOAM for a while. Also sprinted a little, skipping potential TF worlds, so expecting average to fall sharply.

I concur with Caldeons observations; my trip to BP and return via Carina-Sagittarius arm netted me credits somewhat in the same region as Caldeon; around 49 mills with the same amount of honk-only. And yeah, Sag A itself is 630k.

32ly range Asp, bubble to Sag A* to Jacques, mostly jonking with some deeper scanning = 32 million.

It's hard to calculate the value of your data for a trip, because different people have different scanning strategies and ships with different jump ranges.

I've found it better to calculate value based on jump. If I honk a system, scan the primary, and scan shinies (to me: white dwarfs, neutron stars, black holes, Wolf-Rayets, earthlikes, water worlds, and ammonia worlds), I average 16k per jump. If I honk a system and only scan the primary if it's a WD, NS, or BH, plus grab nearby earthlikes, I make more like 11k per jump.

So for a Sol-Sag A* trip (52 kly round trip), a 25 LY ship will take 2080 jumps to do. It's more like 2300 jumps, because they're not all max-range jumps in a direct line to your destination. At 16k per jump, that's 36.8 million. At 11k per jump, it's 25.3 million. A 50 LY ship would halve that.

I think players need to look on what they want. I can set my Anaconda on a 65 jump per 1,000 LY. Which is Max but it still low Or I could set it to economy mode then add Weight to the cargo with the slider then it 515+ Jump per 1,000 Ly

So Going to Sag A. with my current setup. It will be around 1625 jumps. Now if I use the Economy Mode with 515 jumps. It could be 12,875 jumps. just to get to Sag A

More jumps equal more money.

On my first Sag A* trip I earned over 400 million credits. But I did continue a lot further and had visited over 14,000 systems by the time I eventually got home.

On my last trip I earned zero credits. It was a Buckyball record attempt and my outward trip followed a pre-planned route so I had already visited all the stars - and the return didn't earn anything since I had neither a discovery nor a surface scanner installed! (logically, I should have self-destructed to save time but I want to maintain my record of never losing a ship).

I have two accounts on Iron man mode. Never losing a ship.

As an aside, here, does that with the slider work with fastest route plotting? So I could use it to get a half-and-half between speed and economy by telling it to plot as though the hold was half full?

I wish it would do it. But it only adds 5 extra jumps per 1,000 jumps with my setup. So 70 Jumps. That make a large gap between economy and fast travel that not used.
