Of course, if the game gets as big as we all want it to be, manual checking may simply not fly. I guess they may have to rely on some standard swear filters and then a reporting mechanism where people who spot naughty names can tell FD, so FD can sort it out.

I suppose that when the premium beta starts, players will be able to manually created CMDRs in the game, and the only difference will be that those who have reserved names will be the only ones able to use those specific names.

I seem to recall that Shepard was the most requested name. I guess it shows that a lot of backers aren't that original. Some people even suggested that they would hunt down all of the Cmdr Shepards to punish them for their lack of originality. I was even rebuked by someone for suggesting that they should call their ship Harbinger.

I wonder how they've checked mine to see if it meets the standards, or rather doesn't violate the terms. I mean it's just my real name, but you know... It's Slovenian so I guess it's not something a Brit would know anything about. :D

Does anyone recall what happened to Commander Commander, referenced in one of the Lave Radio episodes?

I understand original backers deserve to have some goodies. They took more risk than later backer.
But as an a Premium Beta, having my name in the game is the least they can do for someone that invest 120 € in the game...

As a premium beta backer you can log into your user profile and request a name change.

Go to https://support.orerve.net/http/user/loginform , log in, select your commander profile in the top menu, fill in your requested name.

Two things to be aware of though:
1) This may take a while, because names are checked manually.
2) There is a bug that might cause your savegame will be reset, losing everything.
