An investigation into Frontier's actions on Combat Logging

Before you all get ahead of your self on your moral high horses please note that, any kind of ban or what ever you call it will have zero effect on combat logging.

Besides, no business with a sane management would ever punish its customers.
And certainly not for something as benign as logging off at a morally questionable time.

Punishing cheats seems to have a decent effect in other games.

Besides, no business with a sane management would ever punish its customers.

I guess a lot of popular games have insane management because they don't mind punishing cheaters, even rage quitters.

And certainly not for something as benign as logging off at a morally questionable time.

reading the narrative of this thread (there are many like but this one I am reading now) and it remains the same.... I am against breaking any of the TOS or EULA but why should cmdrs be attacked by wings (sometimes more than 1) be vilified for "pulling the plug" when it is a no win situation when you have a shield stripper courier then once the shields are gone the other 3 wreck your hull .... no chance of mitigating this with high waking out just only except just accept the loss and the mocking over local chat (noob git gud loser etc etc)

I think that FD should prioritise "certain things" but there seem to be a few more important "things" that require fixing as they are truly game breaking for the WHOLE community not just a minority

I would like to know what FDEV are going to do about the clear breaches of the TOS stated here in a public forum

but you know that those who shout the loudest get heard.......

The cost of losing is too damned high!

A Business will most certainly punish a customer in some circumstances.
The most likely being that a group of customers is causing them to lose a larger group of customers.

Nothing saltier than the salty tears of pvp'ers.

As it seems many of these complainants sole purpose in this game to frustrate 'forum dads' and 'carebears', constantly mock forumgoers on reddit and goad FD - I am finding this whole escapade a well needed injection of light relief!

"larger group" ?

Anybody that needs to point out that they belong to a majority usually belongs to a minority.

It is entertaining! Just wonder when the PVP people will get the message that PVP pew pew sucks in this game...and won't be changing.

Rubbish. The only thing that acts as a deterent to cheating and exploiting is action, if Frontier aren't tackling cheating then it will become rife, as it appears it has.

Whats going to happen if this isn't addressed is players who play faily and don't cheat will leave. Which type of players do you want to populate the game? A bunch of cheats? The game will get a reputation and when it does they can kiss goodbye to its success.

Every gaming company bar Frontier takes these matters seriously and for good reason. An example of something they should aspire to is as follows, it would send a message and make folks think twice about cheating:

Its time to drain the swamp ;) Once a cheater, always a cheater.

Personally I wanted an honest response.. which I guess it is IF Ryan and his alt acounts do in-fact get punished. I would give Frontier a couple of days but right now I think it's a bunch of bull.
Personally I wanted a:

Hi Guys!

Thanks for all the kind words on the forum, as developers I can assure you the feeling is mutual. As compensation we introduced a mission especially for you, it's an exploration mission and it's called: The long walk of a short pier.

All the best!

Frontier Development.

But instead I got a placating "thank you so much for calling us liars" post.

Sucks to be us I guess :)

I play alone (in open) and even if players are cheating left right and center to me, I fail to see how it affects my game.
Your argument is a slippery slope fallacy.

If you own a pizzeria, and a guy walks in, pays for a dozen pizzas or so, then drops his pants and starts flinging poo all over your counter, all over your customers, all over your pizzas, all over your famous persons picture wall, all over you! do you:

A. wipe the poo off your face, hand him the pizzas smiling, and say: "Thank you, come again!"

or

B. grab the baseball bat from under the counter and... the rest is too graphical to explain?

But nobody did poo on anything. They just logged off.

The problem with this whole discussion is that apparently there's talk in another place about how to keep their cheats afloat. And spreading misinformation and dissent is on their todo list. The fact is that combat logging happens. It's also a fact that this is difficult to fight - and that the support resources of FD are limited.

It's also a fact that a hack tool that kicks in exactly as the game tries to contact frontier servers has been rendered moot by Frontier, so they do work on fighting combat logging. It's just that going on video evidence is problematic since the authenticity is hard to establish, and a complete technical solution is probably not possible.

You heard it guys. Get your one shot one kill weapons out (I mean the hacked ones not the engineered ones) and kill him over and over again. He's fine with it.

Blizzard punishes it's customers quite harshly when caught exploiting or cheating in any way. Usually with a no questions asked loss of online privilege. Come to think of it Fdev is the only game company I have ever seen that completely ignores it's own rules and allows players to do whatever they please.

If Frontier took a hard stance on combat logging by banishing repeat offenders to a shadow server or solo play that would act as a deterrent. They don't do that so we get what we have now, a wild west.
