Hardware & Technical X56 ordered

Been using keyboard and mouse for six months, decided to go for it and get x56. Read some good and some bad, but it looks too good not to try.

Probably going to build something like this: http://imgur.com/a/AkaRB#0

Any tips for a HOTAS newcomer?

To be fair, for every thread here, there are thousands (or at least hundreds) of users who don't have problems with it.

That being said, Shadowdancer is right. Good luck. If you're unlucky, X56 can be a nightmare. :/

I must be one of the unlucky ones then. I had two x55 and now the x56, and the things are broken 75% of the time.

Really have to wonder, with all the known issues and problems with X-56 posted here in the forums, posted in Youtube, posted practically all around the internet, and still someone buys this garbage.
Just yesterday my friend was ranting in Discord how the quality of the X-56 is complete rubbish and wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

Well, yah, I had X55 for almost two years without a problem, then it broke, I got replacement, which broke immediately, so I got another one, which broke after a week, so I got my money back.

I'm on my second x55 and am getting phantom presses now. I really want the x56 but am fearing the worst. The problem is it is the best option for me... Higher end with a twist.

So, i take it you were expecting that we will tell you that you made a good purchase?

No not at all, in actual fact you can see in my original post that I aluded to the point that I had read some bad reports. Instead, I asked any owners for tips but was met with a series of "haha the X56 you bought is s**t" messages.

It's funny to me because when I posted asking about monitors all I got was a zero response. This forum isn't like any other gaming forum I've been part of. I get a distinct whiff of you, more so than anywhere else I've been. Hell it's probably me.

I'll figure out the x56, and I'm sure it'll be fantastic. And having used many Logitech items before and needed to RMA at times, I know how good their customer service is so I'm pretty comfortable.

I'm an owner in fact I've had 3 X-56's every single one was damaged out of the box.... my post is here in this forum so good luck my friend I truly hope it works for you, but if you check my video I'm pretty sure you will suffer the same fate.

OH and for logitechs customer service this is one of MANY emails they sent me before replacing the product for me the SECOND time. so this was the 3rd X-56... and yes it was still broken out of the box.

Why should I have to do that? they obviously know It's totally broken because they want me to destroy it, they can't even be bothered to pick it up and examine it....

If you still can, please cancel your order. I have the X56 and I genuinely think that it is a peace of crap. The yaw-control on the stick is so broken that I have to put really big dead zone just to keep my ship straight. The thrust is problematic too. There are problems with the thrust control too as it's not consistent how stiff it is to use. I just hate it. I previously owned Warthog and the difference is crazy. I was just too stupid to sell my warthog earlier this year. And I wanted the twist control. Didn't believe what people said in the internet and bought the X56. That was a mistake, believe me. :(

I think OP's complaint is more about the tone of the replies, it's possible to provide constructive feedback without being obnoxious about it.

If your intention is to rub someone's nose in it rather than letting someone know you think they might want to rethink, then your opinion probably isn't worth listening to anyway.

On the X56 I have no idea, my X52 Pro has been great though.

I have looked at switching *up* to something else (ie Warthog), I've spent so much time in ED I'm happy to spend (within reason) for the best solution. But every time I look into it I always come back to the X52Pro being probably the best solution for what I want, despite its flaws.

I think with these sticks there's some level of risk, so would just make sure I'm covered if something starts going a bit awry, they are not cheap.

There's also this, from corpsealot who plays ED, I have no idea if this is typical of all X56s :
