Thanks for that. I can't rep you more so that's all I can really do
There may be very valid reasons why Frontier omitted Cas A and Tycho's Star. I am grateful that they've allowed me to make a comment on the omission via Galnet and I hope that, once the data has been presented, Frontier will acknowledge the omission one way or another. I see four possible scenarios:
1. Cas A and Tycho G truly are missing! Some unknown force is devouring the energy and matter from supernovas (possibly even causing them!) and their omission is related to the Rift mystery after all.
2. Due to the temperature of the supernova ejecta Universal Cartographics, working with the Pilots Federation, has obscured their location as a safety precaution to prevent hapless adventurers from stumbling on them and certain death.
3. For some reason Frontier simply didn't enter them into the galaxy. Maybe they are too anomalous? Frontier can recognize that one of our "candidate systems" just MIGHT be Cas A or Tycho G without having to confirm it 100% but giving us enough detail to know if their omission is part of the Rift mystery or not.
4. Frontier continues to ignore this and we spend the next 8 years wondering if the omission is relevant or not.
One of the big motivators of the Cassiopeia Project has been to either confirm that the missing supernova remnants are a part of the mystery or not. Bug reports weren't getting anywhere so we decided to treat the omission as an opportunity for expanded game play. Those of us who participated in the search greatly enjoyed it and I hope that Frontier sees what we've done and expands on this kind of game play. It's less of a riddle and more of a search using known real world scientific data and trying to overlay that over the Elite galaxy.
My hope is that the effort gets enough attention to either confirm that the omission is part of the Formidine Rift mystery or not. If we've accomplished that then I will be 100% satisfied. And if we don't get that confirmation? Then the journey was it's own reward. I've always been kind of a science nerd but this little adventure has taught me so much about the universe that I didn't know before. Good stuff. I think that it would be absolutely bonkers if Frontier omitted them from the game but Stellar Forge was still awesome enough to deliver close analogs of the objects we went looking for
