So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

This IS the Elite for Dummies chat room ;)

If you read the three or four original posts by LuckyLuke, you'll avoid asking the most obvious questions. We're pretty harmless in here, in general, honestly.

Ignore @Jaiotu - he's just cranky because his favorite star isn't in the game.

It goes up when you post.
Anyone Dangerous or above has too much time on their hands.

NNNNOOOOObody has too much time, your all going to die!

The thing is, if you unchek all the star class filters, the grid, pointer, waypoints etc.. to get the galaxy pitch black, a tiny fuzzy dot remains in the system location on the GalMap. Like a mini nebula.
Did anyone already see something like that anywhere in the GalMap?

Bizarre bizarre..
Vous avez dit bizarre? [wacky]

There are thousands of them, everywhere. Zoom right out and you will see them. They tend to be very luminous stars.

Hi! Just returned from my 5000ly jaunt for palin and turned in about 2 mil in exploration data to the children of raxxla CG. Hope it helps you find what you're looking for (whatever it may be)!

I've lost the link (phone) but in the alien arch. thread someone analysed a crash dump from the bugged planet, and it refers to "Formidine ruft beta site" and an abandoned agricultural base. So there you go, there is something there, but it us not accessible until fixed.

I stand feeling as irrelevant as a rogue asteroid in the M Theory ... [sad]
Why can't I find others of these ?
Must twinkle my graphic settings ...
Thanks anyway for the answer !

Seems that making us analyze dump files of buggy content is the new way the Devs found to give us clues ...sigh...
Let's take a look at those files at every CTD then ... We may even find the very Thargoid Queen in no time .

It did seem rather a coincidence that *that* particular planet was bugged, so although I don't really approve of the method, at least we know. If the site was accessible it would almost certainly have been found, as people were looking.

You are right. Anyway from now on I will tend to consider any CTD as suspicious of hyding buggy new content.
But WHY must be a player who informs us about a two weeks lasting bug while the Devs keep silent ???

Is this suposed to be a special planet or just an older entry?

That planet looks to be more a common occurrence to me. I found one more:

p.s. Thank to the one pointing me to EDDiscovery. I wonder where People take the time to create such big Tools. Very well done.

Wow, that's an old one. One of the first entries to the GMP. Its not that special these days, but back when the Rift mystery was in its infancy, we catalogued a lot of weird worlds out there. The mapping team will eventually go through the old data and archive away a lot of the not so interesting stuff.

Has this bug been logged? I can confirm this is supposed to be there.

Cheers,

Drew.

Thanks for your response Drew. I have submitted a bug report here, + the crash report. I'll put a ticket in as well but it says those have got long response times.

In other news, I restarted, found myself hanging 55km above the planet and not in supercruise (of course), and am attempting landing by just flying down there. Feedback soon.

Ok I have landed on D1. Just restart after the crash to desktop, fly down to the surface without engaging supercruise. I have not tested what happens if you try to access supercruise yet.
