So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

I though I would update my 3-d models. Drafting off Mengy's brilliant idea that alien ruins on SYNUEFE XR-H D11-102 are a "rest stop" and the layout is a stellar map showing where you came from and where you're going, I added what I call the "S-E Pipe," (in GREEN) which is all the systems in the EDSM that are within 5 light years of the line from SYNUEFE XR-H D11-102 to EAFOTS LZ-H b10-0. Maybe some correlations are there.

The R-R pipe (in CYAN) shows the systems within 5 light years of the R-R line. I like the plotting the systems instead of just a line as is shows the stellar density, or at least where no one has updated the EDSM.

I also plotted all 36,641 systems in the EDSM that had "EAFOTS" (in ORANGE) in their name. These systems plotted slow enough that I could see the trail of various CMDRs as they wormed through the sector. Also, plotted the 1,365 system with "HEART" (in RED) and the 1,232 systems with "SOUL" (in MAGENTA) in their name. You can see the EAFOTS cube forming and shape of the Heart and Soul nebulas.

Enjoy while we wait for FDev to fix EAFOTS LZ-H b10-0. I hope this gives a better visual of where clues are in 3-d than placing bookmarks all over the Galaxy Map.

I'm still around the area of Eafots LZ-H b10-0 D 1 CTD. checking out the systems is the 200 ly radius. I been keeping a eye on it since me and cmdr Denneb first report the bug.

Horizons is not required, but that doesn't mean it won't help. ;)

Cheers,

Drew.

So two options:
Engineer jump range most likely required except for the most stripped down explorer ships

Or, and more likely

We're looking for an extremely noticeable feature on a landable planet that can be seen from space.

I already flew back to the bubble because of the frustration. Sent probably 30 crash reports.

What I didnt see was the exact location of where the issue was happening in the report. I may have missed it but I checked like 10 of them and could not find mention of where my ship/srv was located. I dont know if the crash reports report anything from server side.

I read through the report and it looks like it was trying to load some sort of outpost but the memory leak that occurred tried to call all 16 gigs of ram and my page file. So whatever it is must have some sort of moving parts/physics to it because the whole game isnt as big as the memory call. Thankfully it was just call for access and that it didnt try and use the memory. Otherwise lots of BSODs.

Drew only just noticed the bug this morning, and communicated with Frontier an hour or so ago, so you might want to give it a little more time than half an hour to get fixed. At least things are confirmed in motion now, which is much more promising news than we’ve had for the past two weeks!

We’ll finally be seeing what’s down there soon…

Gah I Tweeted him 2 weeks ago when it was found asking for comment.

And we reported a bug on the same day. :(

Rocks :D

BTW all of the EAFOTS beacon rally points are landable, so it may well be there is a base or something on each of them.

So if we know that is the Beta Rally Point from the crash logs is there anything from the beacons that points to that location to help us fine the other rally point locations?

Like a blind man looking for a black cat in a black room and the cat is not there. [big grin]

As I said when I asked about this yesterday, it's barnacles all over again. I can afford to be sanguine because I actually smelled this coming from so far away I didn't even head out to the rift, it was bad enough flying around Merope like a pillock last year before FD realised that there were bugs preventing players from seeing content. I know they must be busy but really, people fly 10K LY out to a region and are dropping bug reports saying hey this planet is crashing us all the time, there's an active CG in the region too, yet it takes Drew getting involved to get it looked at? For something with a CG based around it, surely a bit of active monitoring isn't too much to ask?

We need to build a bigger shrine to Drew and have more sacrifices so we can appease him and get his attention more often.

Wait, there's meant to be a bug there?!

Everyone time it is approached for landing it causes a CTD, similiar to what the barnacles did when they first came in, they were in the right place, but every time someone went ot access that point of interest a crash, it took a frontier investigation to fix it ...... dont frontier check these things before putting them in dozens or hundreds of pilots unable to see what is meant to be there. There is a bug and its not fixed, over to frontier now, the mystery goes nowhere until its fixed end of story

At least the models look cool. I'm new to the rift/alien mysteries. FDev hasn't beaten the joy out of me yet.

Lately, I've had more fun figuring out query the EDSM and turn it into pretty pictures than actually playing the game.

so the question remains we need a patch update to fix the ctd bug, and then we need it soon. Surprised it wasnt fixed before

After CTD, what happens when you restart? I found my ship about 55km up and could just fly down to the surface ib normal space.

Then I found some rocks and shot them to make myself feel better. We have another brute force search on our hands.
