Here. Look at this.

It'll be ready when it's ready.
"Gamma" phase isn't a thing, can we stop making it a thing...
Alpha, great. Beta, great.. Gamma just isn't a thing, someone coined the phrase recently and now it's being used all over the place![]()
Winter 2014 (Fall if you are American) - Release 1.0 - Full galaxy, full gameplay mechanics...
Curious that America would get it 3 months earlier than we Brits![]()
Fall can be anything up to November so I just used that as a general idea ...
some time in the future they will send back the Terminator to March 2014 to deliver the release game.
In a few months you will suddenly remember you have already been playing the full version since March
I'm a bit sceptical about a 2014 release date, even though David Braben mentioned it at E3.
Still so much stuff missing. Then again, who knows what's already done and being tested internally. For all we know, everything in the game is already present, but only available to internal testing for now.
There have been variouis quotes from designers and developers that "they havent switched that bit of the code on yet"
so I wouldnt say stuff is missing - just that it is hidden
Considering where we are now and what's still to be added to the game a September release date (even for Gamma) may be a little optimistic.
It is true that it can seem optimistic. Michael said that Frontier is at the research the release of the retail version for 2014. But the anniversary of Elite in September, is in 3 months, and it seems short. However to release the gamma in September, will not prevent from correcting bugs. The gamma could become a super beta
Gamma is supposed to be feature complete isn't it?
Plans can and do change but I've not heard anything to indicate it has.
Release in 2014 could still happen, 31st December 2014 is still 2014.
Gamma release in December, retail two weeks later, Gamma length was never determined.
Like many, I don't think we're going to see a September release this year, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
The publicity will be great though:
"30th anniversary of epic game, oh look, it's modern descendant is about to be released, you can buy in now before then if you want, it's nearly Christmas", etc.
Much rather they get it right rather than just trying to hit a date.
