Just "found" something weird.

Greetings Commanders,

It's been long (few months) since i played ED. I don't know why, last week i feel the urge of bringing my Conda back to the bubble.
I was 15Ky from Sol... Hence i took the very fast lane, scanning almost nothing...

Yesterday i was heading to a NS on my way, and arrived in "Byaa Eurk ZX-F c25-7".
It's a "useless" system, really nothing fancy there. Hence i just scooped full throttle, as usual, and pointed directly to next jump...
But suddenly i heard a very strange sound, and had to cancelled the jump countdown. The sound was still there and remained.
It was not the common space sound, not something metallic or industrial. It had some organic tones, and it sounds like a discussion, i really thought i've found Thargoids. (I was in supercruise.)
I turned around and tried to find if the sound was coming from somewhere in particular... no luck it came from everywhere.

Unfortunately i had no time to explore in detail the system. I had to logoff...

When i log back into the game... the sound had disappear...

I fully scan the system (mostly ice and rock).
And landed on the only 2 landable bodies... but found nothing interesting (just saw a Viper, which i didn't knew what to do with... and realized it was not a good idea to shoot at it with my SRV. :D )

Did anyone of you ever heard about such sound ?

There have been many reports of odd sounds, but nothing has come of it. I can't recall if there was any official mention of it being a bug though.

I'm pretty sure it was not a bug...
I thought it could be, and really paid attention to it... and no, i think this sound was intentionnal.

So, i can just leave the system and avoid spending hours searching for nothing ?

Well.. you never know but I'll go out on a limb as say it's fairly unlikely you'll find what's making the noise.

As others have mentioned, there's been numerous reports of "odd" sounds ranging from insect like chittering to metallic scraping sounds.

Just like UFO sightings though, nobody ever has a camera or in this case shadowplay/obs to record the phenomenon.

Worth keeping an eye on that system.. but it's probably nothing, just swamp gas :)

Just surprised about how this bug happens...

I did 149 jumps today and heard it only one time today in "Byaa Eurk WT-X c15-6", so same sector as the previous one.

Anyway ... now heading to Merope. I have to collect meta-alloy before meeting Mrs Farseer...

I too have heard the "strange insectoid chittering" sound. I think it is an audio bug; it appears to be the sound of the surface-scanner almost-but-not-quite finishing and getting stuck in an infinite loop. I've had it happen to me a few times on my current voyage. It happened once in a system composed of nothing but two stars, so there clearly weren't any weird alien planets or bases to be found there. And once, I surface-scanned an object while the sound was happening, and there was an odd chirrup when the scan completed and afterwards, the strange noise had gone away.

I know this sound. I've mentioned it a few times. I've never found anything when I have tried to investigate it. It runs for awhile and then suddenly ends with an almost metallic sound. No obvious cause for why it starts or why it ends. No way to recreate it with any accuracy but it kinda grabs ya by the boo-boo when you hear it.

VJ himself in the exploration forum, what brought you here? :)

I've never heard anything unusual which is probably partly due to listening to music.
