Hardware & Technical nVidia Instant Replay Doesn't Work

Shadowplay has changed to Instant Replay under the share settings. It used to work OK when they first changed it, but now it doesn't work with ED. It records the sound OK, but the video is just a stationary starry sky. It records the last 5 minutes. The sound is perfect, but it's like it's grabbed the video from the wrong source. As I said, it just shows a nice starry sky, while you can hear the battle going on - as if the camera is pointing in the wrong direction.


It uses alt + F10 to trigger the recording, but that's the same keys that ED uses for a 4k screenshot. I think FD only added that recently. Is the problem something to do with that?


Can someone please confirm whether it works on their machine? I asked before, but nobody actually confirmed that it still works.

I don't know the answer....but I want to know! Hopefully someone will answer!
BTW, Alt F10 back in the days of Shadowplay used to work for triggering the last (in my case) 5 mins - but also seemed to plant a High Res screenshot in the FD Image directory.......

You can change the hot-key combos.... i find they do conflict .... but its not much of a hardship to make a small key change in nvidia

If you installed the latest update (3.0+) of the GeForce experience, you need to uninstall it and find a 2.0 version. The new "Share" feature they unveiled is literal crap and works on pretty much 1 of every 20 or 30 computers.

Roll it back or use OBS.

Trust me.... ALT-TAB to the desktop once you're in game and close the Elite launcher window... i have no idea why it does this, but it'll work if you do this...

Right now alt+ F10 doesn't record anything with or without the launcher active. It just records a photo. I've had this before, then, sometime later, the recording activated again (by alt +F10) but gave the problem above.

I didn't find any way to reassign the keys. if anybody knows how, please let me know.

The problem is clearly the conflict between both ED and nVidia wanting to use the same key combo for different things.

I have found a workaround. If you leave nVidia Experience in the background, you can alt + tab to it, then click the share symbol, then click the "instant replay" box, then click "record", which gives the last 5 minutes.

Surely someone else must have this problem?

Yes, and I still don't have the answer as to whether it works on anybody else's PC. I thought loads of people used Shadowplay/instant replay. How do they all record their Youtube videos? I asked if there is an alternative method. Nobody has given one!.

Well I for one use Fraps. I bought that some 10 or 20 years ago with a life time lizence and it was just 10 dollar or something not the world.
When I installled Win10 the first thing it did was warning me that Fraps causes instability. So I checked out all this new Video Recorder, win10, raptor and I don't know what there where quite a bunch. The most worked but are heavly Cloud contaminated.
Somewhen after a new Win10 update non of them every worked anymore.
Looks like to me that all those funzy Videorecorder relay on Win10's way of recording.
So I went back to Fraps. Never had a Problem with it ever and zero Problem on Win 10 too. It' is limited but does it's job perfectly fine for me since years.

Maybe try searching google for alternative methods of recording?
There are so many alternatives to 'Instant replay' that I am amazed that you haven't found any on your own ...

Dump it for Loilo. Loilo is so much better a recorder.

Even the older Shadowplay made terrible recordings for me, very choppy.
Loilo has worked flawlessly from day 1.

Yes I can confirm this is the case too, the new Shadowplay sticks to the ED launcher for some reason. You need not even wait to be in game, just close the launcher after you click play and it'll work just fine.

Doesn't work for me. The new "share" feature just hangs up, wipes all of its keybinds and then fails to properly load it's UI whenever I try to run any game.

Edit: But my FPS counter stays up and refuses to go away no matter what!
