Horizons Are they going to repair SRV's wave scanner?

I wasn't doing any surface prospecting for a while, but yesterday on 12 Aquarii B 1 while I was looking for Technetium I was wondering how the hell Frontier managed to break in such a way the wave scanner. Basically I had to relay to audio cues only to find any rocks. Are they going to fix it or what? It's already broken for some time, how could they introduce a new bug into something that was working as intended (although I did't like it very much)? Did they try to improve it?

Yes.

If you mean, when will they fix it? No idea. They know its an issue, so its just a question of them figuring out why it broke and fixing it. This might mean its fixed in the next patch, or fixed in 10 years.

To go on the surface look for materials is the most unsuccessful task, SRV's wave scanner does not work and there is practically nothing to be found.

FD forgot to put stones to shoot, only decoration stones .

Wasted hours, always frustrating trying to use SRV to something useful.

In the meantime, go into your audio settings and lower all a bit except for your wave scanner.

From there, just listen. The graphic is broken, but the sound is not.

I could not hear metallic meteorites yesterday except for one that did appear on the scanner. Had to just look out of the SRVs window to find them.

Unfortunately the wave scanner audio slider is not independent from the rest, lowering sound effect volume also reduces wave scanner volume. You can only lower wave scanner sound WRT sound effects, not raise it.

the player base finding the way to make things works, nice.

but I still think it should work as it should be

It starts off OK but looses it by the time you get close.

At this time the noise of the WS is usually audible. Also set the scanner to max range. Often, when the WS conks out, you are close enough to find a security zone if that is what the POI was.

All in all this adds to how stupid game mechanics on the surface are. Most of them by design. Skimmers not targetable - checked; POIs seen only above 2km - checked; meteorites on the normal scanner only up to like 50 meters - checked.

I haven't played the game for about 3 weeks now because of this bug. it just makes doing anything on the surface a huge pain in the . I know the audio still works but it just bugged the hell out of me that they were taking so long to do anything about it that I got bored with the entire game!! This is a serious issue FD....for Gods sake fix the damn thing!! Am I the only one that has been put off firing the game up due to this?

he whole SRV experience and finding planets items, buildings objects material and features all needs a buff if you ask me, there is still to much time spent looking for practically nothing, frontier should be doing this better and quicker for all players, they should be thinking of not only updating the WS, but making the ship scanners located surface items, it's time come on frontier it is the year 3200 after all !!

In 3200, the scanner wouldn't have those little rows of stupid lines that you have to use Google to decode to determine if something is "metal" or "rock" or "carpet".

The damned screen would just say "METAL FOUND".

It's like it was designed for 9 yr olds that find obtuse puzzles so amusing.

I highly doubt it.
When asked in the Live Stream, they seamed astonishingly blaze about it. Did'nt even seem know what the bug was, let alone how occupation breaking it is.

That doesn't sound promising....that bug has been reported multiple times. The fact that they don't even know it exists kind of boggles the mind tbh.

Yes, I was also astonished when a question regarding the wave scanner bug was read in the Live Stream and they absolutely treated it like a fly on a wall. Maybe it's not mandatory for the Lead Designer to be aware of every bug in the game, but the wave scanner directly affects Horizons and Engineers, because you can not reliably acquire materials.

I mean, it was poor when it was working as intended [where is it]... Now it's a mess. I fully agree with one previous poster that in 3302 it should simply says "Metallic Meteorite 150 meters ahead" instead of "Wau-Wau" and some lines... :O

At the very very least it should have some sort of bandwidth filter so you can ignore hits outside of a user selectable value,so you only see pings from items you are interested in. I mean thats early 20thC tech.
