It will show the name of the person who discovered it first...the chances of anyone sharing the same name on a very niche game like this is extremely low. The chances of encountering that same name in a game with 400 billion systems is astronomically low.

We're going to be connected to the same background server as pc/Xbox so you'll have to go exploring for first discoveries!

Everyone starts at the same handful of different stations (if that makes sense)

You don't have to go very far from the bubble of civilized systems to find unclaimed systems, just 2-300 light years is enough. Far more unclaimed systems if you move away from the 'highways' (common routes) that go towards major destinations like Sagittarius A*, Colonia, Barnard's Loop, et cetera. A thousand or more light years out, most systems are unclaimed.

Gone on a few mini excursions and still not found an unclaimed system lol :O went about one thousand lys from maia as well!

Well, considering the interest around Maia, its little surprise that the region is well explored. Fly up/down about 1000LY then head towards the core, should find plenty of unclaimed systems.

For the most part, no. There is a new region of the galaxy that is slowly being populated, so sooner or later there will be a 2nd region of populated space in which to conduct business.

When I went on a trip to Maia last year I think I only found one unexplored system and that was only a few months after the game's release. It's a very popular destination. Probably most peoples first proper trip out of the bubble. It's a well know system in a well know and pretty looking nebula, which is quite close by, only 1000ly out from the bubble. However head out towards any of the other far out nebula's, take a high or low path there from the bubble and you should soon start to find loads of unexplored systems. In fact for long stretches I would see nothing but, only seeing signs of humanity again when within a couple hundred ly of a hotspot like a nebula.

Think I flew about two hundred lys up before I went one thousand out :) I'll sort it, I got a first discovery during the xbox gpp but didn't get the achievement for some reason but last I heard we've not even discovered 1% of the galaxy yet between pc and xbox lol 😁
