News Colonia Expansion Initiative - Wrong sign up?

I just hope smaller groups now don't just throw in their lots with the larger ones though, seems very against the spirit of this CG to me.

Am I acting against the "spirit" of this CG when I help load up ships for factions other than my own?

I am very much in support of several factions getting their bases besides my own effort.
There is enough space to do this in cooperation.

That isn't what I mean. And likewise hope several I like are included. What I mean is politicking.

What I mean is the CG was originally. Ask for minor faction. Player compete for minor faction. Top 10 win.

Now during the third week say, my faction isn't doing so well given number projection. Yours isn't doing so well, we agree that we'll join together. All my players switch from Aurora to Rock Research Ring. That is against the spirit of the CG as is clear by the original rules.

You have no numbers to know whether you are doing well or not.
You are already politicking by advertising your campaign everywhere.
You can already decide to join forces by loading up each others ships - more effective too, because only adding individual contributions sacrifices one for the other.
You could already decide to join forces in a subsequent month.

Yes, this does make the whole thing a lot more flexible - but I don't see anything about "the spirit" being affected. If there is a problem, it already existed.

We can however make an educated guess given confirmed drops, confirmed sign ups and current total deliveries ;) So yes, we can make a /minimum/ estimate that doesn't include any CMDRs we're unaware of carrying for our faction.

There's a big difference between factions vying for support and a faction throwing in its support to another towards the end of the CG, which is the ONLY thing that concerns me.

ONE LAST THING: I sincerely wish every-damned pilot (NOT FACTION!) got their own outpost, seriously, this is probably the hardest CG I think there's ever been and every single person who takes part in it is a god-damned hero. I wish everyone luck.

Well this is not good. You should allow a one time change, not unlimited changes.
Yeah. Forget any tinfoil hat conspiracy theories, but the title asks "wrong sign up?", not if you want to change allegiance. It's pretty clear that extra factions were being created by accident and people were signing up for the wrong one, so there should have been a way to fix it. But you only need to fix it once, and I'd think a 24 hour grace period should suffice for fixing an error. If you want to allow allegiance changes, I think it should only apply to guides turned in after the switch. [sour]

Agreed. And man, you're too sexy.

I've been out to Jacques twice now and I'm working on a third. It's kind of a nightmare but I really want The Order of the Wandering Siamese (plug) to make it. The not knowing if I have a chance and the potential that this is all for nothing is killing me though. Whatever the outcome, I foresee the drinking this New Years to be especially heavy.

That doesn't help knowing anything about how well you're doing in relation to top 10 (unless you miraculously cover the majority of deliveries). Just a single commander could already have submitted ~2500 tons.

The difference is an entire group throwing all their coordinated submissions behind another, sacrificing all their silent supporter submissions (now truly "useless") and their own chance at getting a base this month. Which also frees a whole slot for a smaller group (so it is beneficial to you if other groups merge, but you stick to yours - unless it's that small edge case where two tiny groups just overtake yours with getting #10; care to estimate the chances of that happening?). Perfectly fine move if you want to do it.

By the way I'd rather prepare the haulers to improve their efficiency for months to come instead of burning out on the first one.

In that case shouldn't you fully support every pilot swapping their support to their favourite estimated top 10? ;D

The not knowing if I have a chance and the potential that this is all for nothing is killing me though.

I personally consider this first month a test run. Preparation, practice - figuring out the very best approach. Anything but "all for nothing". Getting a base already would just be a nice surprise, but not expected.

Hmm... I think he means spending 5 weeks jumping back and forth to Jaques just to find out at the end of week 5 that all those hours spent jumping didn't get you what you were fighting for.

Re: faction swapping YinYin, we're just going to have to disagree.

I think I'm calling that practice for months to come.
