So I'm a "Care Bear"

Apparently.
According to some guy i met earlier in Upsilon Phoenicis. He asked if i wanted a fight. He said we could fight to 10% hull. I explained i was unarmed to reduce mass in my dedicated exploring asp. He informed me i was a "care bear" and i "shouldn't be in open unarmed".
Its not school holidays yet is it?
Anyway I'll give him a little respect for not attacking me.

Get support to rename your CMDR - Arise CMDR CareBear!

Honestly I think travelling OPEN with no weapons is an act of extreme bravery, carry on CMDR.

he's wrong. You're a carebear if you believe you have a right to not be attacked (your state of armedness doesn't matter).

You're not anything in particular if you turn down a duel or decide to fly a particular ship in any given mode.

10% hull is pretty hardcore too btw. Damage happens so fast once you get down close to 10% it may be too close to stop before destroying the opposing ship. I usually only duel to 50% hull and no targeting the reactor.

Well then I'm like the bravest guy in the world, because I do it all the time :)

I'm watching Firefly for the 4th time through.
Serenity is unarmed, no one ever called Mel a Carebear.
But he let you go, so there's that.

The very fact you are playing in open makes you not a care bear. A bit crazy to be unarmed, but who's to say crazy is a bad thing!

It's a little sad when merely not killing somebody after insulting them for having a different playstyle is uncommon decency sufficient to be worthy of any respect at all.

Heh, the very few times I've met an aggressive commander in open they've always been in a bigger dedicated combat ship so even though I had guns it didn't make much difference -- anyway there's always the Brave Sir Robin Manoeuvre for such situations.

Generally if I meet other commanders in open (actually exchange comms) they're normally pretty friendly... even the guy in the OP seems fairly reasonable (care bear comments aside!)
