I'm thinking we need to throw a deep space party when you reach 1,000 (all are invited) :)

Congrats, I just found my first the other day - long way to go ;)

Commander, congratulations. If you need any tips on how to improve your chances just ask :)

I tell ya, for me, and I am sure for some others too, searching for specific things and figuring out likely locations to find them is an extremely engaging exploration activity that goes way beyond just jump, honk, scanning all objects for me.

I have been looking specifically for terraformable worlds, and challenging myself to only DSS planetary bodies that are terraforming candidates. What I find particularly engaging about terraformables is that there is no way to tell for certain until you have DSSed them...you have to figure out the goldilocks zone based on star type, star temp, then take into account the planetary body size in the system map, multi star systems, all kinds of things, and make the best estimates. My latest trek was a 10kly run aways south west of Colonia, and in that 10k, I scanned about 2200 planetary bodies and got 1600 terraformables, just under 75% success, so I have a bit of tweaking to my methods yet...

The dedicated ELW hunters such as Chiggy and Frost are the ones who set me upon this path...

Truely astounding!!

Here's hoping I bump into you (or one of your ELWs) out there in the black.

How many systems have your been in? Aka what's your percentage of ELW per system?

From what he's told me Chiggy used to think that 1 in 80 or 1 in 60 was a good hit rate, but since we've both been searching D mass stars near the core the hit rate is between 1 in 40 and 1 in 50

D mass? Seems I am unaware of what this actually means....

Z...

The proc gen system names are <sector> <some letters> <one-letter><numbers, maybe with a dash>.

The <one-letter> is an indication of the mass of the primary and runs from H (giants, big black holes and O stars) down to A (all your brown dwarfs). The inestimable JackieSilver has a comprehensive explanation of how it all hangs together here.

Congrats! And for something fun, take a look at the "By distance" charts on the list, especially the one that's in 1000 ly increments.

I've not managed to run into any on my own, so the only 6 I've seen are the ones with my name on too :)

The amount of ELW's out there is truly mind boggling. Thanks to meeting Chiggy I now understand there are probably around 1,500 ELW's in the sub sector I am searching alone! Times that by the number of sub sectors in the galaxy and you will get a very very large number. There are over a million I would say if not more, so no surprise you haven't run into any of his. There are plenty for everyone :)
