ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous: Horizons for PS4

Incorrect. The Xbox One team at Frontier is also working on the PlayStation 4 version as well. The console team is not working on the game on the PC variant. The development speed of Elite Dangerous on PC still remains as it normally does. ED on PC is ported to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
And who works on the Mac version?

Just please allow us to copy pc commanders over to PS4. I love the game, been with it from kickstarter and willing to purchase PS4 version, but only if I can move my user over. Got too far on PC to just throw it aside.

Definitely, this. Not to mention people who have bought Horizons for Mac and haven't had a chance to play it yet ...

Great news for the Future of Fdev and the game.

Seems to me like hints of PS4 launch in parallel with First person and likely full on Aliens next year. If so, waow.

and today you can play with (or against!) friends and our amazing community as you travel the galaxy alone, together in a ‘wing’ or even fly aboard the same ship.

b-b-b-b-b-b-b-what???!!?!?

I thought the same thing...

Post must have been written from some point in the future and sent back in time. :D

Time is only relative at any given point in time. ;)
Although worded awkwardly so could be read as a mistake, I think it is clear given the context of the PS4 launch that DB means when PS4 version is released we will already have or will be simultaneous release of multi-crew.

As Brett says, 'given point in time'. PS4 release is not today, but will be later in 2017.

Multi-crew will be a PS4 exclusive... :p *runs and hides*

The trailer got me excited again like back in the horizons trailer, as there was a lot of things in that trailer so I hope at least some of the new stuff shown is real.

I have two PC/Mac accounts and one XBox One account which are all actively played; one lifetime expansion pass. I'll buy the PS4 version too. I sure would like it this time if the PS4 version would cross play with PC. It would be a nice one up for Sony to have over the XBox One.

I was thinking... About the controversial dude standing in te cockpit... Maybe they decided that walking around your ship wouldn't bring much gameplay, and decided to include it in 2.3 and leave "just" EVAs for a later season?

I know, that's wishful thinking, i don't really think it's gonna happen, but it'd make sense.

Microsoft is sitting on stand-by as well regarding crossplay. If it was up to them, this was a thing already.

They even asked Sony to enable this with games on PS4 and XboxOne. Though Sony was the one keeping this off.

I hope someday, we can all interact to eachother in the same Galaxy.

What I read:

Literally, in plain english, the developers have officially and explicitly said here that there will be cross-platform play between PC, Xbox, and PS4 on "THE" same and only server for the game.

If it isn't, then you'd better correct this fast, and explicitly. Most gamers are done with this bullcrap of seperate servers. We want to game with our friends cross-platform, and we will vote with our wallets. NMS wisened us all up to the lies and bullcrap of game devs, and we're not going to tolerate it at all anymore.

Cross-platform, or shut-up and get out.

Wow. That escalated quickly. The background simulation is the same, you just can't fly with each other.

But more importantly.

You're understanding it wrong...still doesn't mean cross-platform play. It simply means that we won't be able to see each other on different platforms. Still the same galaxy.

No. I don't understand it wrong. It's not cross-platform, obviously, which is an utter waste of time and absolutely backwards in terms of modern gaming and the future of gaming. Doesn't matter if it's Sony's fault or FDev's fault. Everything I stated earlier still stands... so...

"Shut up and get out"

If FDev wisens up and cross-platforms it, then I'll buy it.

They won't do it because "it would be nice" or because "you sure would like it". They'll only do it when their investors' wallets and stock value start hurting, so stop buying every little thing and start voting with your wallet.

...and Microsoft _IS_ in fact going cross-platform with all xbox/pc games, so there's no possible way for Sony to one-up that; but it's only possible for them to keep up or lose out. Look, I'm no PS4 fanboi, it just happened to be the console I got... for free... and can't afford to build a better PC or laptop right now, and I'm not buying an xbox. This whole issue is annoying. Sony is going to crash and burn if they go against cross-platform gaming, but in the meantime, game devs MUST be more aggressive and open about cross-platforming, and just basically charge forth and do it on their own. EVERYONE has online friends on different platforms these days, and everyone wants to game cross-platform - to heck with lame excuses about joystick vs. mouse and accuracy. Most people .... dont.... care! They'd rather have to option to game cross platform than worry about who's using a mouse vs. a HOTAS joystick vs. a thumbstick.

I'm super-excited about the forthcoming PS4 release. I have ED on my PC, I bought via Kickstarter at the Premium Beta level and I have Oculus Rift which is amazing. But, I sit at the PC coding all day, so aside from a few minutes at weekends (which are usually packed with family stuff) I never really feel inclined to sit at the PC for gaming too. That's where the living room PS4 comes in. So yes I'm very much looking forward to exploring the stars from the comfort of the living room (though mapping all the buttons to the DualShock might be a challenge!)
