Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Update (1.4.2.7) released:

Changelog:
- Fixed an issue when repairing the locations database.

Note:
Copy all files and folders from the update into your TCE installation folder to update your version.

I like to remind any user, who wants to use TCE in french or spanish, to help in translating the
latest commodities and interface phrases at OneSky. Thanks in advance.

Quick questions on updates...

Hadn't quite got around to installing the last couple (currently running 1.4.2.3) is there any requirement to install the last couple of updates before doing 1.4.2.7? Judging by the way you've written the update posts, the answer is "no", but just figured I'd check first :)

No, it is not required. You can directly copy the update over your current installation. The requirement for the update is always added behind the download link.

Is the show-launcher-instead-of-autostarting-when-db-upgrade-required-or-edmc-outdated check in yet?
[big grin]
Just asking, always have to disable and double check atm.
If not, pls. do a mention of it when posting the updates.

It's already in. TCE shows the launcher automatically after an update of TCE, for a database upgrade or if EDMC is not up-to-date. Forgot to mention at the update. Can't remember when it was included. Getting old... ;)
It has to be also added to the manual of course, still pending.

For some unknown reason I can't download the file. I get "There was an error downloading your file." from dropbox.

Edit.

I went ahead and signed up for drop box and sync'd my computer and it worked then. Didn't have to the other times I did this but it worked and I'm happy.

I apologize in advance if my questions have been previously answered, normally I would read an entire thread before asking questions but this thread is 191 pages long!

I was previously heavily into trading, but took a hiatus to grind Empire & Federal rank... now sporting a brand new midnight black Trade Cutter and working towards 'Vette purchase.

Anywhoo... looking to get back into trading again and would like to use this app.

My questions:
1. I play in VR... can you run TCE in its own window on another monitor, similar to ED Engineer?
2. Use to run EDMC to send market data, but that functionality is now being provided by EDDI. Do I still need to run EDMC and, if so, what conflicts are there with EDDI and EDMC both running, sending the same data twice?

Thanks for reading!

Hi there,

1. I think so, as long as it is on the same PC.
2. You don't need to run EDMC in the back normally for TCE, except you want to send data to EDSM. TCE using the commandline executable of EDMC and will only send data to EDDN, if you select the Online option at the Options panel of TCE.

Hi Eventure,

I have not used Elite/TCE in a month or so. I updated to the new version fine, all is working well with a minor exception.

I had a problem before (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ension-Mk-II?p=4771998&viewfull=1#post4771998) but it was resolved. I have a similar problem now, but it is very odd.

I use Voice Attack, and have it set to send the keypresses I have set up in TCE to hide/show TCE and hide/show the 'summary' panel. The keybinds are set in TCE as numpad minus and numpad plus. When I use Voice Attack, which is set to send the command to "tce workspace", it works! But when I just press the key on my keyboard, TCE does nothing. That doesn't make sense to me, but that is what is happening.

EDDI also sends data to EDSM, so it sounds like I'm all good.

Thanks!

At the launcher, hit the X button at the top-right corner, within the UI, choose Control > Quit.

Yes...

But I am talking about when after launching it, play for a few hours and then close Elite. The launcher window is no longer avaliable. I'm sure I am missing something though. :)

Click the 'Control' button (maybe the time is shown), thereafter the 'Quit' button. Otherwise your cashflow is not stored in the history display of the Personal panel.

TCE using a global hotkey (specifically RegisterHotKey API) function, so it may interact with other apps running in the back, using it too.
When using num -/+ key at a note field of TCE or Notepad.exe, is the -/+ sign displayed when pressed?

I did some testing, here's what I found:

When everything is running, and I open the nav panel to type in the 'star system notes' box, the +, - do not show up when I hit those keys. But, when I hit the + for example, the 'system summary' panel shows. Hitting + again will hide it. Further key presses do nothing. When I mouse click back in the 'star system notes' section, pressing + again will hide and then show the 'system summary'. So the keypress will work 2 times after clicking in the 'star system notes' section, then stop. Maybe a focus issue, or something about when TCE is expecting a key to be pressed?

Exact same result if I open the trade panel and click on the notes section. The keypress will work twice, then stop. It will not show up as a + in the notes section.

As a matter of fact, if I open ANY panel so TCE has focus, the kepyress will work exactly twice, then stop (for showing/hiding).

I tried shutting down Voice Attack and Open Broadcaster Software individually to see if they were interfering with TCE, but it did not matter.

The commands always work when I speak the command to trigger Voice Attack. Maybe VA takes focus, then the system will allow TCE to take focus so the keypress sent works? Otherwise, TCE is not allowed focus on a keypress?

Also, remember I am running in nvidia surround where it takes my 3 monitors and makes them look like one big one. I have "all monitors" selected in TCE. "Multimonitor setup" is NOT checked. I did not change these, so that is the default I guess, or is detected and set by TCE?

sidenote:
In an effort to further trouble shoot, I clicked on the "multimonitor setup" box, and thought I broke something. The boxes got really big, and moved to the middle of my screen. I recovered by moving the panel back and resizing them and font. I had to do this with all panels, but no big deal. I suspect this was the intended/correct behavior when doing that, but it freaked me out a little.

Hope that helps.

edit* separate issue/bug: I got micro-weave cooling hoses as a mission reward and TCE said something like "unknown commodity" coolinghoses.

Because of using global hotkeys, the focus has no relevance to use the hotkeys. And it is correct to not show the keypress in a notebox. The key is blocked to use only as a hotkey.
I included a delay of hotkey keypress to not having issues when a key is hammered. It's about one to two seconds.

Because you are using the surround mode, TCE will detect all screens as one, so activating the MMS option isn't required, but if you do, TCE tries to setup all panel to the default position and display.

For the micro-weave cooling hoses, TCE should hold the commodity. Did you have 185 commodities in database? Check the laucher > database window for the number.

Please use the 'Report an Error' button at the launcher, so I am able to check your databases. Maybe the journal log for the session could be helpful.
Thanks.

Yes, I do show 185 commodities in the database window. I have several log files from yesterday, but I'm not sure which one has the 'hoses' issue. If/when it pops up again, I'll log out and send you the log file.

I logged on today and re-did the test. I sent you an email with the 7z file and a link to the video. Hope that helps.

Found a mission with cooling hoses as reward. I emailed you the 7z, netlog, and link to vid.

It is not the netlog, I requested. I required the journal log.

Did you tried another keyset to hide/show or summary?
All keys are working here, every time, as often as I like, so it's not an TCE issue from my point of view.
But let's ask the commodity for a broad check.

So is anyone experience issues with the selected hotkeys not working? Please report back if it's working for you or not every time!
Thanks folks.

I emailed you the journal logs that I found 'hose' references in.

Also, the problem with the keypress issue was that I did not check the "run as administrator" box after installing TCE this time. Once I did that, keypresses worked both alone and via Voice Attack. So now keypress is working all the time.
